Obama's approval ratings are really low. When the economy was booming under Clinton, his approval ratings were much higher. This dosen't seem to be the case with Obama.

There's a difference between booming and recovering. (Also, obligatory "he's a black you see")

Right-wing news media also carp at him all the time.

...When all is said and done I see him likely to be compared to Eisenhower. ACA is his Interstate Highway System. He undid much of the damage that Dubya did -- more economic than military.

I know that, but still. The economy is recovering at a rapid pace and a majority people still don't like him. It's sad.

I know that, but still. The economy is recovering at a rapid pace and a majority people still don't like him. It's sad.

Not really because very little of what he did has materially impacted the economy. We still have not fixed our long term entitlement problems, education is still a mess and healthcare is a long way from being fixed. Our tax code is still a mess of loopholes and special breaks and as for energy you can give him credit for pushing up fuel economy. However, the greatest change in our economy from the Bush years until now, concerns the fact that we have gone from being a heavy energy importer to more breaking even and even exporting energy. And that is mostly do to fracking. People underestimate the impact that this has had on GDP as it means billions that was going overseas is now adding into our GDP instead of being subtracted. The shale boom also increased demand for manufacturers in places like Ohio for specialized steel and equipment.

Also on the note of Clinton, he did not deserve his numbers either because franky nothing he did at all in anyway shape or form contributed to the economic growth of the 1990's except for signing off on a budget deal not quite nearly as aggressive as Republicans wanted, but still rather close to what they wanted. 1990's Clinton nostalgia is based on a fallacious notion that Clinton's policies actively broguht about that growth and another Clinton will do likewise. Yet it was Clinton who signed off on the two big deregulation laws that set the eventual Global Financial Crisis in motion.

Never has there been a bigger difference between Iowa and Wisconsin in an election season as this one so far. Obama approval ratings are 14 points apart, Republicans are tied/leading in Iowa, trailing massively in Wisconsin, etc.

Obama having higher approvals in Florida than in Pennsylvania seems odd.

Kansas, by Fort Hays State University. The language looks close enough in meaning to approval (satisfaction):

11% very satisfied
17% somewhat satisfied
8% neutral
15% somewhat dissatisfied
48% very dissatisfied

https://www.fhsu.edu/uploadedFiles/executive/docking/Kansas%20Speaks%20Report%202015%20.pdf

11% + 17% = 28%

Gallup: 49% Approval up Monday's 47%.

In stark contrast, Bush had a 31% Approval rating at the same point.

Obama also has 43% approval from Independents, and 10% from Republicans.  Bush had 26% approval from I's, and 6% from Democrats.

PPP, New Hampshire:

Obama approval 46-47. No change in the map.

Good enough for re-election, though -- except for the 22nd Amendment.

Obama got quite a bump in the last week, going from 43% on RCP to over 50% on Rasmussen and Gallup today.
