Obama at 57% in CNN, highest since 2009. Despite this, the Democratic Party is not viewed well at all.

This is a reflection, in part, of the dissatisfaction from within the Party by the berneicrats.

The 2020 democratic primary is gonna be ugly unless a leftist like Warren wins the nomination.

Obama's highest approvals reached 67% in January 2009 when he first took office as our first African-American president -does anyone think he can reach that before his second and final term is up next month?

No. But this is telling: the secret to winning the 2020 election for a Democrat will be to have as much in common with Barack Obama except perhaps for so much melanin.

59% approval would be good for winning in a landslide.

Obama Job Approval - Approve 60%, Disapprove 39% (Rasmussen Reports 1/5-1/9)

...and this is extremely anti-Obama Rasmussen.

It looks as if the best way to win an election in most of America  after 2016 -- even in 2018 -- will be to be as much like Obama as possible.

Frankly, there are a lot of people who fit the mold of "young, hopeful, erudite, scandal-free" in the Dem party. It's really to bad Kander lost.

What a foolish statement. It doesn't deserve a detailed response.

In any case, I said that before the pharma vote.

CNN/ORC: Obama at 60%

65% say Obama's presidency was a success.

He is on the same level as Eisenhower, Reagan and Clinton were at the end of their presidencies. Somewhat surprising to see, but at least many are coming around to give the President the accolades he deserves.

I think that we now see the secret of the next Democratic President: be as much like Barack Obama in character and agenda as possible. Oh yes -- and expect Donald Trump and the Republican-dominated Congress to foul up badly.

If there is one fault with Barack Obama, it is that Donald Trump follows. Except for fornicating, Donald Trump has little in common with JFK.

...The parallel to Eisenhower is fairly good.  Eisenhower had little agenda, and Obama had a much bigger one. Congress went along with Ike, but frustrated Obama enough that their levels of achievement as President were about the same. The curricula vitae could hardly be more different, but both show similar temperaments.

I could start crying when I see these numbers compared to the Trumpster. Don’t leave us, Mr. President.

LOL. In 2014 his approval rating was like 41%. Now that Obama is not a partisan figure Republicans feel free to come out of the woodwork with what they really think of him. They also started to admit that the economy is booming. Republicans have such bad faith. They have their gerrymandering, Electoral College, Senate advantage and rural vote to protect their grip on power and that's all they care about.

Do you get the idea that he is going to be a very active ex-President?

Aren't these the same polls that showed Clinton winning by large margins?

Aren't these the same polls that showed Clinton winning by large margins?

She did, in fact, win the popular vote by nearly 3%.

RCP Average says? DING! Clinton +3

RCP Average   11/1 - 11/7   --   --   46.8   43.6   Clinton +3.2
Bloomberg   11/4 - 11/6   799 LV   3.5   46   43   Clinton +3
IBD/TIPP Tracking   11/4 - 11/7   1107 LV   3.1   43   42   Clinton +1
Economist/YouGov   11/4 - 11/7   3669 LV   --   49   45   Clinton +4
LA Times/USC Tracking   11/1 - 11/7   2935 LV   4.5   44   47   Trump +3
ABC/Wash Post Tracking   11/3 - 11/6   2220 LV   2.5   49   46   Clinton +3

Despite your narrative, reality dictates otherwise. Last I checked, national polls weren't polling the electoral college.

Numbers like these basically give him permission to pursue very active, public endeavors.
