It's not the "Fox News Exit Poll", it is conducted by Edison Research for all MSM outlets.

It's just that you find all the data on Fox News' site, while CNN and NYT have totally crazy layouts on their website, where a lot of the data is missing ...

And that's the only time I'll say something positive about Fox News ... Tongue

Cristina Saralegui, who is the Cuban-American Oprah, came out strongly for Obama because of the DREAM act.

Yeah, it's insane the GOP won't even support the DREAM act. We are pissing away a whole segment of the population who would more than likely identify with the GOP and it's just insane.

They would probably still not back you, but yeah, you can at least try by supporting DREAM ... Wink

Wow, that's crazy. A good sign for future Democratic hopes in Florida.

They would if the GOP would frame their arguments differently, and stop with all of this anti-immigration rhetoric. The core GOP message, not the one warped by far-right extremists and crazies, is one that would appeal to Hispanics. The party can still run on securing the border without running on crazy ideas like self-deportation.

Once upon a time, when Bush was in office, supporting the DREAM act and talk of a guest-worker program and amnesty for good behavior was not a taboo to discuss, and now any GOPer who dare say such things will be tarred and feathered by our base. Times, they do change..

Also, intentionally making people's lives miserable so they'll leave? Fundamentally un-American, I'd say..

You may have lost a good desl of Latinos for life. Even if you moderate on immigration issues, I'm not convinced Latinos will start to trust the GOP in the near future.

Perhaps not, but that doesn't mean nothing should be done. All parties go through periods like this. We haven't lost a generation of them yet, but it will take time to gain their trust. Latinos were not necessarily in love with Obama, but the rhetoric the Republicans were spouting terrified them, much like it terrified women, gays, and young people. And therein lies the problem for this entire election and for the GOP going forward.

Romney's horrendous Jeep ad backfired on him in Ohio and his horrendous Spanish-language ad attempting to tie Obama to Castro and Chavez hurt him in Florida

Cuban-Americans still hate Fidel Castro, and anything that reminds them of him -- like inexcusable falsehood for political advantage -- offends them.

Fidel Castro -- LIAR!
Mitt Romney -- LIAR!

Barack Obama is by contrast meticulously honest even if one disagrees with him.

That's probably not the only story. The prompt response of President Obama to a hurricane that struck the northeastern US that included sacrificing some campaigning in critical days to coordinate aid with R politicians reminds many Cuban-Americans in Florida of a particular danger to which Cuban-Americans are at inordinate risk because of where many of them live: hurricanes. Responses to natural disasters are rightly non-partisan, and President Obama showed that if he has to rescue the political image of Governor Rick Scott to get an effective response to a hurricane that ravages Florida, then so be it. Contrast Hurricane Katrina.

Another is that President Obama made it easier for Cuban-American families to visit Cuba.

That all said, when the influence of the bearded liar dies in Cuba, what sort of President would you like to have in the US?

Romney did not lose Cubans. Mouse over the Cuban areas.

If we're speaking about Hispanics as a whole here, I really don't think they would identify with your agenda or philosophy - they're just too economically and socially disadvantaged.

What you have to do is let the Democrats win for 30-40 years, and, as they did in the 30s-70s, they'll make all these darker people solidly 'middle class'.  Then you can fool them with the Horatio Alger nonsense.

Romney was literally the anti-immigrant candidate, so it makes sense that he would do so much worse.

Not at all dispositive. Sure, Hialeah still voted for Romney, but Hialeah is not representative of the Cuban vote as a whole. (It's wealthier and older than the overall Cuban vote.) Look at Little Havana--was all McCain in 2008, more Obama than Romney this time.

This is excellent. Florida is a State where Democrats underachieved throughout the past decade. If trends keep going this way, it might become more democrat than the nation in 4 or 8 years.
