Lol no. I could see Obama appointing a future GOP candidate like he did with Huntsman so he will be forever unclean in the eyes of the far right.

I was thinking maybe off the Court of St. James but I realized he'd already managed to offend them there. Winfield House would have been a nice irony, though.

Perhaps a seat on the Council of Economic Advisers? Commerce? The new silly-sounding Business?

It's not going to happen, even though it really, really should.

I'd say Mitt Romney would've done the same for Obama, but let's face it—Obama doesn't really bring much to the table.

I'd really respect Obama if he did this. Mitt would be a great fit for Commerce or "Business". I don't expect it happening though.

He would have had four years experience as commander-in-chief, n'est-ce-pas? Maybe he wouldn't have brought anything to the table - he would have brought the table, itself.

I doubt he'd want to live in Washington most of the year. And I don't think Presidents should offer cabinet positions to challengers. In an open election year, offering a position to a former opponent is good because it helps build a coalition, promotes unity. But a challenger candidate's main job isn't to win the presidency, it's to beat the President.

Isn't there a secretary of the ignorant rich?

Seriously, Obama has no reason to pick Romney after Romney showed himself to have no business to be placed in such a position. Obama and his cabinet hardly need the....errrr....'wisdom' of Mitt Romney.

An incompetent giving another incompetent a job? Makes perfect sense.

Why can't we just not hear from this guy ever again?

Understanding of how the economy works and how to run a business. None of Obama’s advisors has the same insight.

Obama knows he is in deep trouble and he needs at least one sensible voice in his cabinet.

A second added bonus would be appeasing the Republicans and reducing opposition to his policies.

He made the same move with Hillary.

He'd be a good replacement for Sebelius (he'd need to flip-flop again on Health Care). Sebelius should run against Pat Robert in 2014 Tongue

I could see that actually, considering the fact I think Romney did believe in the Health Care plan in Massachusetts, even though I disagree with it.

Pat Robert probably would still win because of her being in Obama's cabinet, but she's the only one who had any chance.

It would be a gesture, don't know what kind of gesture; but Mitt Romney accepting? Don't hold your breath; Obama and Romney detest each other, but hey it would bring a new meaning to burying the hatchet - in each others skulls.

After reading what I just read about Romney being in Pennsylvania because he thought he was winning in a blowout (and sending Paul Ryan to Minnesota instead of Wisconsin/Iowa too lol), I don't want this man anywhere near a position of power.

2008 Republican instincts were right.  He was clearly an incompetent rich kid who should have never gotten this far.

Obama doesn't want Romney in his cabinet.

He is waiting for Ginsburg to resign so he can appoint Romney to the Supreme Court.  Romney does have a law degree as well as an MBA from Harvard after all.

That isn't going to happen.

Mitt Romney will most likely become the GOP Michael Dukakis. A Massachusetts governor, who loses an election, and is never heard from or seen again.

Romney should replace Petraeus at the CIA. Romney already is a master of disguise and can be trusted to not have sex with women other than his wife. It's a win-win.

why would Romney want some piss-ant $200k/yr bureaucrat gig when he can rake in eight figures in obscurity?
