I am back from Florida, where I personally witnessed Democrats' successful efforts to make downtrodden masses drink Kool-Aid like Jim Jones did. I am hearing the same thing from all of my contacts in all of the battleground states. Congratulations, Democrats! Good luck blaming Bush for four more years...

Mitt Romney scared people into believing that if he won most people in Americans would be the downtrodden masses powerless to contest the cruelties that oligarchs usually impose.  As the consequences of the Dubya era fade we are going to cease giving any leeway to President Obama for hardships that result from the worst President since Hoover and the Little Depression.

Barack Obama missed campaign appearances so that he could coordinate a response to a natural disaster about to strike.  Chris Christie and Michael Bloomberg, both Republicans,  found President Obama easy to deal with. Contrast the experience of Kathleen Blanco, then Governor of Louisiana and a Democrat, found a my-way-or-the-highway approach to Hurricane Katrina from Dubya. Dubya tried to grease the skids for Ms. Blanco and succeeded -- with costs paid largely by people living in Democratic-voting New Orleans -- while letting the Republican Governor of Mississippi get whatever he wanted.

Dubya chose to use a disaster for Machiavellian partisanship. President Obama showed no concern that Republican pols would look good in the aftermath of a disaster. Dubya gets a hard rap for a bungled response to Hurricane Katrina.  Barack Obama did what most Presidents beginning with Roosevelt -- Teddy Roosevelt -- did in response to disasters from earthquakes to floods. Disasters did not get partisan responses. Just think of Calvin Coolidge and his response to a horrible flood of the Mississippi River in the 1920s, having to coordinate aid with Democratic pols.

If President Obama gets undue credit it is because it is in contrast to Dubya. We had eight years of Dubya and that remains in our memory.

I am more optimistic. I have blessings to count. I am glad to know that Orwellian propaganda chosen more for its incendiary qualities than for its truthfulness has failed. I am glad to know that threats (if Obama wins you may lose your job!) that we used to not see have failed. I am glad to know that a President who by objective standards has done well is re-elected. I am glad to know that we will not have a President who will push lower wages and harsher working conditions for most people while pushing tax cuts for our economic elites. I am glad to know that a Party that pushed superstition and pseudoscience has lost Senate seats. I am glad to know that two conservative states that rejected Barack Obama for President (Indiana and Missouri) also rejected two extremist candidates for the Senate who trivialized the horrible crime of rape. We have a President who honors what used to make America prosper and still can. We have a President who has no scandals and who has given America nothing to apologize for. President Obama is a nightmare, all right -- for tyrants, terrorists, and pirates.

Yes, I blame Dubya and a bunch of Republican pols for the economic downturn of 2007-2009; I also recognize that unemployment is a lagging indicator. From here on, President Barack Obama has responsibility for economic stewardship, and any failure on his part is his. The economy is growing fast enough to cut deficits as more people are employed, businesses make profits in an improving economy, fewer people need emergency relief, and tax revenues increase.

General Motors is alive, Osama bin Laden is dead, and Barack Obama will be a two-term President!

Unfortunately, Politico is completely right. I do think a Communist threat is alive and well. It is pervasive, not only in academia, but the business world, in politics, in the military. I would not be surprised if the whole scandal with Gen. Petraeus is the official coverup of a communist power play.

Believe it or not, this country has been overrun by Communists, Socialists, and Anarchists, but this time they've truly inflitrated the highest levels of academia and government. One should only look here from my view point in the Kremlin on the Hudson, and see the Communism is truly rampant amongst the student body and the faculty, that I would say some two thirds of my peers adhere to either Communism, Socialism, or Anarchism. The economics department is perhaps the only bulwark of common sense. I would not be surprised, ludicrous as it sounds, that the large amount of Ivy Leaguers in the business world today are in fact a mass infiltration, a third column designed to collectivize and overthrow it once the signal for Revolution is given. It is a long time coming, let us not forget that the red flag itself flew over Morningside Heights in 1967. Where did these radicals go? Let us also not forget that our very Attorney General, Eric Holder, was one of the hostage takers in 1967!!

Let us not underestimate the detrimental value of the defeatists and the cosmopolitans, those who wish to see the acendance of Socialistic states like China and Russia, people, again who seem perfectly normal and esteemed, like Fareed Zakaria the plagiarist and Thomas Friedman, who preach that we should just live with the rise of China. These people have infltrated our society and esteemed institutions like the Council on Foreign Relations. I have been there! I have seen those defeatist Communists! So sadly the threat is very real, and omnipresent in all sectors in our society. We need a national reaction to flush them out. We should be greatful to Poltico for speaking out.

Yes, we need a national enema. Eventually the next Ronald Reagan will appear to rid us of those who seek to destroy America. There will be hell to pay.

Politico, I don't appreciate how you obviously believe this tripe with all your heart. I don't like that about you.

I am not interested in coddling communists. There is no shortage of communists in America, regardless of whether many communists self-identify. Simfan knows it, I know it, you know it, and everybody else knows it. It is time to start discussing what is really happening in America, particularly in the hallowed halls of educational establishments across the country. Tens of millions of minds have been destroyed by the work of these communists, and the nation will not survive if we do not change course...

You labor under the illusion that anyone who does not want to live under the Marxist stereotype of capitalism on behalf of rapacious, selfish elites is a Communist.

The best way in which to stop Communism is to ensure that the common man has a stake in the system through fair wages, competitive prices, and consumer choice. For a full understanding of the Cold War, university students need to understand the appeal that Marxism has and under what circumstances.
