Rubio will be up for Re-election in 2016 in Florida.

I think he will run for re-election, especially if Jeb runs for president.

The field might be wide open, but I'm sure there will be some old timers running for president that will suck up a lot of fundraising money.

I think Rubio stays out in 2016, what does everyone think?

I think Rubio runs for president and Bush doesn't run for president. Bush is a tarnished name and shouldn't come back ever, just like Obama's after he's done in January 2017.

Senate. He has too many inconvenient family members.

Senate, unless 2015 it seems like he can waltz in and win the nomination.

I believe the filing deadline for Senate isn't until June 2016, so he can run for president throughout most of primary season, and then, if he loses the nomination, run for reelection for his senate seat.

Same with Paul Ryan in the House.  Filing deadline is late enough in Wisconsin as well, so he could pull the same trick.

IIRC, Kentucky's filing deadline is as early as February though, so Rand Paul can't feasibly run for both.  He'll have to choose.

So does Obama, and it didn't matter for him.  Obama had/has so many things in his past, I really can't see why anything from Rubio's would make anymore difference than Obama's past made for him.

Well, you see, Rubio is a Republican and Obama is not.

If he runs for President, wins the nomination and then loses the general election, we could see a Nixonesque situation where he runs for Governor of Florida in 2018.

I don't see how Obama's last name will be as tarnished as Bush's. There's no one in his family that will run for office in the near-future. Michelle hates politics. Malia and Sasha can't run for at least another 10-15 years (if they get the itch). And then there's the fact that there's nothing yet that would keep the Obama family from creating a Dynasty in the mold of the Kennedy's, Roosevelt's, Rockefeller's, Bush's, and Clinton's.

I have a gut feeling that Rubio won't run for President in 2016.

As Mr. Morden pointed out, the filing deadline is after the end of the Republican presidential nomination process, so unlike, say, Rand Paul, Rubio has nothing to lose by running; if he loses, he can just seek reelection.
