After seeing the results, swings and trends of this election, what do you think are the best locations for the two parties to have their convention in 2016?

My picks:

Democrats: 1) Phoenix, Arizona 2) Atlanta, Georgia 3) Columbus, OH 4) Orlando, Florida
Republicans: 1) Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 2) Milwaukee, Wisconsin 3) St. Louis, Missouri 4) Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Democrats: 1. Atlanta 2. Miami (look at that trend) 3. Orlando 4. Des Moines 5. Richmond

It should have been in Richmond or Des Moines this year.

Republicans: 1. Columbus 2. Milwaukee  3. Pittsburgh  4. Denver 5. Las Vegas (turn off SoCons?)

It should have been in Columbus or Milwaukee this year.

We already know the identities of quite a few cities reportedly considering a bid for 2016:

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=158174.msg3423741#msg3423741

Charlotte (for the RNC only, since the DNC isn't going to use it twice in a row)
Cleveland
Columbus
Dallas
Indianapolis
Las Vegas
Nashville
Newark
Philadelphia
Phoenix
Salt Lake City
St. Louis

The Democrats should put it in either Georgia, Arizona, Texas, or Virginia. The GOP should have theirs in New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, Wisconsin, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania.
Dems
1) Atlanta, Georgia
2) Phoenix, Arizona
3) Dallas, Texas
5) Richmond,Virginia
6) And maybe as a wildcard we throw in New Orleans, Louisiana

GOP
1) Denver, Colorado
2) Albuquerque, New Mexico
3) Milwaukee, Wisconsin
4) Las Vegas, Nevada
5) Atlantic City, New Jersey
6) Pittsburg, Pennsylvania

Both parties need to avoid Florida. I needn't mention why.

Hopefully they stop having conventions in third-tier cities just because they're located in swing states and return to the tradition of holding them in great American cities, like NYC, LA and Chicago.

Not sure if I should support the DNC coming to Atlanta or not. That would definitely make sense, though.

No love for Detroit?

I just looked and the Democrats have never held there convention in Detroit. Detroit should be at the top of the list for the Democrats. Detroit has a bad reputation but would do a great job with the convention. It would be a nice boost for the city to host a convention.

I think 2012 pretty much debunked the idea that conventions are going to sway the host state.  As for Detroit, it probably can't afford the security that would be needed.  If I had to pick places to hold the 2016 convention, then the DNC should be probably be in Chicago and rhe RNC in either Atlantic City or Brooklyn.

Charlotte is attracting some buzz as a possible location for the 2016 RNC:

The 2016 RNC could be held in a small city in northern Alaska. Electricity would be obtained solely from petroleum-powered turbines using crude oil obtained from environmentally sensitive areas. Attendees would each be given a rental Hummer to use as their personal conveyance during the convention (and once inside, they can avoid walking by riding around on motorized scooters equipped with extra-large cupholders and handgun holsters).

The ceremonies would open with a bald eagle holding fireworks in its talons flying around the room and pecking to death an effigy of President Obama while the Romney children and grandchildren sing the Battle Hymn of the Republic to the sound of a 21-assault-weapon salute. The closing night would culminate in sacrificial offerings being made to a Ronald Reagan shrine, including uncooked bacon, gold specie coinage and well-worn copies of Atlas Shrugged. Because, America.

If that blonde is there I will go to either convention Wink but in all seriousness I think Pittsburgh for the GOP and Phoenix for the Dems.

The libertarians should have theirs in Denver or Seattle so that they can smoke blunts on the convention floor, while deriding Big Government.

The Libertarians would likely have their convention at a Holiday Inn or the like, and those places usually have no smoking policies in their public areas.
