The Republican Party won't collapse.

But the party will undergo some fundamental changes... otherwise it would indeed collapse.

The GOP has not collapsed. They still have the House and many state legislatures.

That being said, the party needs to do some serious soul-searching if they want to remain relevant in American politics.

As this is a US site I'll quote Twain "The report of my death was an exaggeration".

We see this regularly after UK elections, XX Party will never win again, bu they do.... One of our best loved sitcoms 'Dad's Army' had a character who regularly intoned that 'we're doomed, DOOMED..' so good to know it's not just a Brit thing.

However ....

If the GOP couldn't win this year, can they ever win presenting themselves to the electorate as they do now ?

My guess is that unless they dump the religious fruit-loops, ignore the talk show & Faux News fools, & never, ever, EVER accept an endorsement from Donald Trump again they will struggle ....

As others have said, the demographics issue is a big problem for the GOP and the problem is, the base of the party won't accept any changes to appeal to more moderate voters and minorities.

The party has big, big issues.

It just has a few problems: It is rather bad shape looking ahead just an election or two, and to get past this difficult period it has to perform a difficult transformation, given the apparent lack of appeal that its current presentation has for the growing parts of the electorate.

Well after two presidential elections (2024) Texas becomes a swing state.  Hannity and Boehner are aware of that.  They need to solve their issues with the Hispanic community... fast.

Jeb Bush in 2016 will do it.

Remember that the Republicans have not won a Presidential election in 84 years without a Nixon or a Bush on the ticket

Yes, and I think they will so solve (at least partially) their ethnic problems by that late date, simply because they must.  My point about the problematic nature of the medium term is simply that it will be difficult to turn around the voting patterns and perceptions of these groups 'on a dime' - it will take a long time.
