After a disappointingly close loss to President Truman in 1948, the Republicans feel more confident than ever that they can win back the presidency after two decades.  Is this just party rhetoric, or is a GOP president in store?

While I might prefer Taft on domestic policy, with the Soviet Union and Korea, Ike is the choice.

Taft had relatively moderate foreign policy ideas, but Warren is by far the best choice.

Taft, though I wouldn't have a problem in the slightest if Taft loses to Ike.

If he loses to Earl Warren, however...

With the Taft and Warren delegations unable to find any common ground, General Eisenhower won the nomination of the GOP easily. With a hugely popular national figure as their nominee, the Republicans feel extremely confident going into the general election; especially after the selection of up-and-coming Senator Richard Nixon of California as Ike's running mate.
