That seems a very "odd" combination. How does Paul find common ground with these types, or at least moreso than his competitors? Why would Romney-types donate to Paul rather than....well, almost any other serious contender?

So, not dead yet after all?

Not if you count Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin as 2016ers. They both endorsed Joni Ernst.

Rubio has also endorsed Gardner. Guess that means fundraisers or stumping.

Santorum not on the Rand Paul bandwagon, unsurprisingly.

Bernie Sanders will speak in Clinton County, Iowa on May 17:

(Ha, Clinton County?  Is he trolling the Clintons?)

There also seems to be a Draft Bernie Sanders organization getting up and running in Iowa now.

This is a must-read on Ryan's (potential lack of) presidential ambitions, and the prospects for running for prez while chairing the Ways & Means Committee:

http://thehill.com/homenews/house/205263-can-ryan-run-for-president-while-chairman-of-tax-panel

Short version: Ryan's the favorite to be named chairman, but he might not be able to land the job without promising that he's not going to run off and run for president six months later, making himself an absentee chairman.

Hillary Clinton is asked by Robin Roberts whether she'd consider Elizabeth Warren or Julian Castro for her running mate, and she refuses to bite on whether she's running in the first place:

Jindal delivers a Liberty U commencement address, courts pastors and will keynote the Faith & Freedom conference in June. Aiming for the socon niche - crowded with Santorum, Perry and Walker.

Rubio won't touch immigration next year.

Thune seems to backpedal a bit.  A few weeks ago, he said he wasn't running, now he says:

According to this, Rubio, while in NH, says he'll decide on 2016 later this year:

http://www.wmur.com/politics/in-nh-marco-rubio-admits-hes-thinking-about-2016-presidential-run/25904282

Though it looks like at least one other news outlet says that he actually said later this year or early next year.
