Hmmmm...  It seems JulioMadrid hasn't been in the forum for about twenty days. I know he was supposed to be travelling in Brazil, but how long did he say he would be out? A month?

Here I am again!

1- Do you want to continue this?

2- Now that BMontley has been banned... Should another poster take his place as Mitch Daniels and name two replacements to the Senate, should I appoint two or should we kee Hostettler and  Skillman (or only one of them?)?

Yay! Smiley Smiley Smiley Welcome back, Julio. You have been missed!!!

I'd like to continue, though I'll be away for the next ten days. We could correspond via PM though if you'd like on certain policy compromises and such.

What's your opinion on the Daniels' issue? Are you OK with Skillman and Hostettler in the Senate or should we have 2 other Senators? Someone has to appoint replacements for Lincoln, Konrad and Bingaman, too. But I suppose no one will play as Richardson or Hoeven (Jerry will play as Beebe, so he has the right to name a replacement IIRC). I was thinking about Hoeven naming himself and Richardson giving Ben Luján or Dianne Dennish the Senate seat (boring option), what do you think? Does the law in NDallow Hoeven to do such a thing?

Thanks!

I'm still part of this. The senators that Bmotley picked are fine if you ask me, let's just keep moving on with the whole thing.

Well, if you want MY opinion, I think Daniels picking Hostettler was extremely unrealistic, as the two aren't necessarily from the same circles within the IN GOP. I think Dan Coats would have been a safe pick by Daniels - you know I'm being honest about this, as I am NOT a Coats fan. Wink

I know. Skillman is not a problem for me, but Daniels picking a loser who has became a libertarian... Too unrealistic. But it could make the game funnier! We already have Greens, Democrats, Independents, Republicans and even one Constitutionalist in the Congress, so why not a libertarian? It's an option, but I'd still prefer Lumine to appoint someone else and run as Mitch Daniels in 2012.

Can I be Herman Cain? Nader won't run in 2012. Imagine a Green Primary O.O! Dennis Kucinich vs Jill Stein vs Gary Johnson(why not?) vs Jesse Jackson (who cares?!). I could be Jerry Brown but running in 2012 for President would be ridiculous!

To be honest, I want to run as Gingrich in 2012, I had enough of Daniels in the 2012 Game... Still, if I end up becoming Daniels, Skillman will still be appointed, but I think that a libertarian is going too far... As Tmthforu said, Coats looks like a better pick, or I could choose Marlin Stutzman.

I totally forgot about this TL. Expect an update for today. And I've finally decided we will appoint Skillman and Hostettler anyway. This Forum has many libertarians, so maybe one of them wants to run a serious race with Hostettler in 2012, who knows?

January 20th - February 28th starts now. Mr. President, the agenda is yours, you decide the size of the update, what you will do... The rest of the people, some of you may announce exploratory committees, talk about the economy, do nothing...

OOC: Will any of you want to run the RNC or DNC? We can play without them, but in terms of electing candidates those are the most powerful positions. And do you think we should create some kind of "INC"? IMHO, we should if Bloomberg decides to create a party. Independents are by definition no members of any party, but now we have them running the country... It's a weird situation.

January 3rd, 2009

Nancy Pelosi keeps her job as Speaker, while Harry Reid remains as Majority leader in the Senate.
Republicans have decided their leader in the House will be Eric Cantor, and John Cornyn in the Senate.
Independents have chose to form their own Caucus, which will be headed by Earl Pomeroy. In the Senate, their leader will be Chris Daggett.
Green leader in the House will be Marcy Kaptur.
Phil Roe decides to join the GOP Caucus in the House but won't change his affiliation. In fact, Constitutionalists got a 2nd member in the House, after independent Robert Cluck decided to join Phil Roe. Cluck will also caucus with republicans.
Travis Childers (D-MS), John McHugh (R-NY) and Connie Mack (R-FL) become independents.
Peter King (R-NY) will remain a republican and John Boccieri (D-OH) and Steve Sarvi (D-MN) democrats, despite rumors that they would switch to independent.
John Hostettler (L-IN) and Betty Skillman (R-IN) join the Senate. Both will caucus with republicans, so independents lose 2 Senate seats.
Ben Luján Sr. (D-NM) and Dustin McDaniel (D-AR) take Bingaman and Lincoln's job, while Jon Hoeven (R-ND) appoints himself, making republicans gain one seat from democrats. That means 3 more seats for republicans than they were expecting... Good news for John Cornyn!

CMN will have an interview with President Bloomberg next week. What will be his first measure as President? Will he take on gun control now that democrats have huge majorities both in the House and the Senate? What's his plan to give new life to the economy [what happened in October, 2008 IRL happens in December in this TL, so you decide what to do, Isaac. I will have an update about the economy today or tomorrow]. Will he close Guantanamo? What about Health Care?
