A certifiably insane man to have served in Congress for so long? Doesn't it just confirm all you have ever felt you knew about the place?

Kudos to him to get a diagnosis, of course.

She was not free to adopt any position she wanted. Inner suburbs, and especially Black ones, are the only areas where gun control was always a major vote-winner. Guns are what these people escaped to the suburbs from.

According to the latest poll, the pro-gun Debbie Halvorson will win tonight.

Oh god no. Will there be a run-off? It's hard to imagine her winning the nomination with less than a quarter of the vote.
No runoffs outside the South.
Winning today would be the only way to keep Halvorson's career alive, of course, even though she'd be very vulnerable to a primary challenge.

Gun control positions were a proxy for race here, of course. There are a few things that scream "exurban politician completely insensitive to the needs of this inner-city-rooted, Black-majority constituency which she doesn't belong in" (which, let's face it, is the 100%, bonafide, unadulterated truth about Halvorson) even more loudly than a very pro-gun stance, but none that would have stuck in this case. Black politicians putting "Vote for someone who looks like you" bluntly tends to backfire, with Black and White voters alike; it appears Kelly is smart enough to have noticed.
