25,000 is the minimum needed for a White House response.

Not that it's worth responding to the gun nuts, but since when is it a crime to oppose certain parts of the Constitution in the United States?

By this logic anyone who supported and pushed for the 21st Amendment was guilty of treason.

Even if Feinstein actually opposed the 2nd amendment, it would be a clear attempt to reform the law of the United States, not to subvert the government.

Has the White House responded to the secessionists yet?

Let's try Mike Lee for treason.

I'm all for that; when do we start the petition?

Good. The bastard warrants life in prison at least.

I'd be satisfied with simply removing him from office and preventing him from running for another elected office.

Or, for dramatic irony, give him a letter of marquee enabling him to become a state-sponsered pirate, something he frequently mentions Congress can do and that he wants to have happen. Once he's the US's privateer, send him against the Somali pirates. Without any funding or modern equipment.

Sounds reasonable. I say we disinterr [sp?] and try them and then douse their bones in alcohol.
Then we do the same to those who supported and pushed for the 18th Amendment.

I like how we now think people should be tried/deported for not agreeing with the NRA on everything.  When are we going to see a "Deport Orly Taitz" petition or something, I wonder...?

They're drawing up a databank of the feckless crazies. It's all in preparation of the Death Panels.

Anybody who once has pushed for any amendment - adopted or not - would be guilty... but among the right-wing looneys this kind of logic seems fairly normal.

I expected this to have some connection with using her position as a ranking Senator for the benefit of her investment banker husband. (Which still wouldn't be treason by any rational definition, but at least it would make some degree of sense, however small.)

I'm getting really curious to see what kind of official response the White House issues for all these nonsense petitions.

I'm of the thought that they should respond to most of them with excerpts from the constitution. Maybe the secession petitions with the Gettysburg Address.

The White House won't be wasting its time responding to joke petitions, you guys. The "official response" bar is a meaningless hurdle.

He probably won't, but Obama should totally answer this petition... in a Piers Morgan style.

IMO, Obama should ask Jon Stewart to respong to these petitions on his show.
