Do you still need to know anything that's important for the election ?

Wink

Also, thanks to the 70 voters that took part in the poll on top of the page.

I was only hoping for 50 votes, but good to see it's much more than that.

Seen several times in Vienna-Simmering these days (workers district, SPÖ- and FPÖ-stronghold):

"Won. Thanks."

Wink

The SPÖ suspects that either the ÖVP or the FPÖ is behind these fake posters and launched charges against "unknown".

KPÖ in front of the Trotzkyites in front of Green. ÖVP last by far. Typical result for a German left wing Greenie, I guess. ;-)
KPÖ way ahead, Pirates second but basically tied with SLP (who?), Greens, Wandl (who?). Then SPÖ, then NEOS. Then BZÖ, actually, then two more who? reactions, then FPÖ, CPÖ, ÖVP, EUAUS behind even the ÖVP.

[SLP >] KPÖ > [Der Wandel >] Grn > SPÖ. The rest hold no appeal.

So, the elephant debate on the ORF was a debate without the elephants.

Faymann (SPÖ), Spindelegger (ÖVP) and Stronach (TS) did not come.

Therefore, Eva Glawischnig put a "paper-Faymann" and a "paper-Spindelegger" on the debating table:

Wink

In other final debate news, Josef Bucher (BZÖ) was pretty solid, once saying that he's the "living Austrian Statue of Liberty" ... Tongue

Maybe he can get some voters back from the ÖVP, TS or FPÖ in the final hours.

You can watch the whole thing here:

Many thanks Tender for all the updates.

Do you or anyone else know if the ORF geoblock will be lifted for the election coverage tomorrow?

I did manage to catch some of the Faymann-Strache debate livestreamed on ORF online, so I'm hoping that it may be?

Thanks!

The weather today is just about perfect for voting:

Ca. 15°C, misty, slight rain comes and goes.

The ORF weather report yesterday evening had a graphic showing historical weather on election days and turnout:

On election days 1995 and 2002, the weather was cloudy and rainy - like today - and turnout was 86% and 84%.

When the weather was more sunny, turnout was not as high (like the 79% in 2008).

The 10am turnout in Vienna is ca. 2% lower than in 2008.

(absentees, which went up, are not included in these figures - so the drop could be misleading)

So, a new SPÖ/ÖVP coalition is a very likely scenario, and if the two parties fail to get a majority of seats a coalition of SPÖ/ÖVP/Greens is the most probable outcome, isn't it?

According to the polls yes, but remember that the last polls were conducted about 10 days ago !

So, anything is possible, because in the final week more than 20% of voters made up their minds.

Anything from a FPÖ-landslide to a SPÖ victory above 30% is possible. Or that the FPÖ falls below their 2008 result, because of the corruption during 2000-2006.

But you are right, if SPÖVP have no majority on their own, the Greens are likely to help out.
