HP. IMO, on par with George Wallace, possibly a bigger one.

BTW, the proper order of listing the items in the poll is as follows:
  • FF
  • HP
  • Neutral, or whatever other option(s) you may think appropriate

I almost voted FF by accident because you didn't use the proper order. It's like asking a true or false question and listing false before true. Don't do it again!

No problem. My reply was meant to be a little tongue-in-cheek, but it is a bit of a pet peeve of mine.

Did he do anything particularly notable/offensive? When I think of reactionary Southern governors, I can't get beyond George Wallace, Lester Maddox and Orval Faubus.

He was big in the James Meredith conflict, doing it for purely political points.

Massive HP.  And he, Wallace, Maddox, and Faubus never became Republicans.

What is the matter with you?  Is your brain so small that you can't process basic arguments, and your only response is idiotic digs like this?  I don't understand why you keep arguing this one point over and over again.

In the case of Wallace and Faubus, that's because relative to some other people around they were the good guys. Scary as it sounds.

This stuff is important to me, and it's one (but not the only) reason why I'm a Republican.
