Oh, give me a break. Whatever one or two "moderate" positions Cuomo has taken certainly backfired but the fact that it backfired to this extent is just absurd. The Cuomo's are left wing icons in this country. I'll never be fooled into thinking this guy is actually moderate.

Let it be known that Andrew Cuomo would have my vote over any Republican. Excellent news. I may even volunteer for his campaign.

You are not a Republican.

He's governed like a conservative Republican.  It's almost bizarre.

I think this only adds to Cuomo's problems. He's going to have pretty limited crossover appeal to national Republicans, and liberal Democrats already hate him. The two groups don't have to agree on what they don't like about him for this to be a lethal combination.

BTW, Republicans have tried primarying everybody who isn't in your wing of the party. Don't work to well. But if you must attempt it, please do go ahead.

Those damn liberals, going around primarying moderate Democrats like Joe Manchin and Mary Landrieu.

I am officially registered as a Republican back in New Jersey, so yes, I am a Republican.

You do realize that Andrew Cuomo loves union-busting and tax breaks, right?

Cuomo's indeed very popular in New York. More so with Republicans and independents than with Democrats.

How so?  Cuomo polls higher amongst Democrats than Republicans.

Not in the last polls I recall seeing, although you may for all I know be right at this point.

A Cuomo is or was a left-wing icon. Another is a moderate hero at best and a liberal in the worst sense of the term at worst.

The Dems lost the ability to draw the NY Congressional map because of this type of thing. It would be very hard for me to vote for him in the primary.

I would likely vote 3rd party if he were the nominee.   Medicaid cuts make me very Sad.

Mario unquestionably is and I'm sure he has sonny in line. This is all an act and even with that in mind, it's greatly exaggerated by the Kos/Forum crowd.

Birch Bayh was a left wing icon. How did the left feel about his son?

And for the other side of the spectrum, Robert Taft was quite iconic to conservatives. Now his son on the other hand....

I've also said that Cuomo, Jr.'s "moderation" is overstated.

Again, what part of anti-union, tax-break-loving, willing to allow Republicans to take over the state senate, and pro-fracking don't you understand? He is not a liberal.

And he believes in climate change! You can't get any more pinko than that.

Uh...I hope the above two sarcastic points weren't supposed to be suggested responses from me. I won't touch on the "hate gays" issue because to some people here, being opposed to gay marriage = vicious homophobia. So that issue aside, I've always said I believe in climate change and frequently call out morons (the overwhelming majority of which are on my side) that dispute it.

Abortion for one is a deal breaker for many in the GOP.

Zioneer, Cuomo is very much a liberal. Just not in one of the senses that you or I would like or be comfortable with.
