There's a thread over on the US General Discussion board about the case Nelson v. Knight in which the Iowa Supreme Court affirmed a grant of summary judgement in favor of the defendant by a lower court.

While the court ruling is restricted to Iowa in its effect, the court did base its decision in part on jurisprudence involving Title VII of the federal Civil Rights Act of 1964. The specific ruling in this case is that an employment decision made because of concerns of the effects on the employer's marriage if the employee was retained does not constitute gender discrimination.  Note that the case did not involve any questions of sexual harassment which would have gender discrimination if a jury agreed with the plaintiff.

I'm going to with what had been my original instinct and leave discussion for the other thread alone.
