Preemptive defense against the inevitable "theocrat" smears that'll come because of his thesis and the exorcism IMO.

I like that he has come out and called this "War on Women/contraception" exactly what it is: hogwash. He makes a good case for over-the-counter availability. Not sure I agree with the idea that his speaking out in favor of this will end "birth control politics" though.

It's the political equivalent of saying 'I support a spherical earth.'

I guess we shouldn't take that for granted anymore.

I'd give it a 20% chance that the Republican Party actually begins to avow flat-earthism.

And yet, it's likely to cause his a great deal of trouble amongst his own party.

Ha, perhaps I'll support Jindal. Depends who else is running.

In a country that wasn't horribly messed up, this would not be news.

Jindal wants to run towards the center for 2016, interesting strategy.

Supporting Birth Control doesn't make you a moderate. Period.

The point which a lot of people here seem to be missing is that by making birth control pills an over-the-counter medicine, they'll no longer be covered by insurance, thereby eliminating the spectre of employers being forced to pay for them when they don't agree with their use.  So adopting this position is a win-win for the Republicans on a lot of levels.

As a Republican who doesn't like Jindal, I must agree with him on this one too.  Not that contraceptives are ideal, but they're better than abortion.
