Uruguay seems like a Freedom Country, at least on social issues.

Uruguay is basically exactly what a post-dictatorial country should be, but few are.

Uruguay is basically exactly what a post-dictatorial country should be, but few are.

Dictatorship here was an exception in 140 years of democracy.

The President is an ex guerrillero with stoical values. He lives in a very small farm.

And the leader of the centrist party is the son of a President-de-facto. He supported him as his father but not in his ideas.

And they are friends:

uruguay's president is the one who donates most of his salary to charity isn't he?

he seems like a genuinely awesome person.

This does not change the fact that Uruguay is, and has been, an HP country. But excellent news.

Ghana - joke team that can't convert a literally last minute penalty to win the game and then loses in the penalty shoot out! Not quite like The Netherlands Euro 2000 Semi Final showing (missed two regular time penalty kicks and three out of four penalty kicks in the shoot out) though.

No, for defeating arrogant Brazil at home your country is certainly one of the greatest FF in football.

The situation only came about due to a dubious referee decision and the ball would have probably rebounded off him anyway. And it's not Uruguay's fault that the Ghanaians missed the penalty.

Using this line of reasoning Spain should be the coolest country of the Universe because we are World Champions and recently we won the Euro for the second consecutive time. It's not for so much, believe me. Urugay rules! Freedom Country without hesitation.

This pretty much is consensus in what remains one of my favorite countries I've had the opportunity to visit.
