Essentially, safe search is now mandatory and cannot be disabled for U.S. IPs searching on Google Image search. It's the end of an era, folks.

I just googled "blow job" out of curiosity. I got a bunch of weird pics like this:

People use Google to search for porn?  That's brave (or stupid).

I haven't done that in a decade or more.

EDIT: Actually that's incorrect. The search-for-an-image-with-an-image thingy has been helpful in locating the unaltered originals of fakes.

It's not mandatory. It's just become somewhat more difficult to opt out (and you have to be logged in to a Google account to do so).

I do think it's incredibly ridiculous, but there you have it. Not like I use Google to search for porn anyway.

So it's actually an incredibly clever scheme to get more people to sign up for Google accounts?

I guess, but I don't really see what benefits Google gets from having more people signed up for Google accounts. Perhaps it somehow improves their advertisement targeting?

Bingo. If you just have a Google cookie not associated with your account they can only track your activity on your current computer. If you are logged in they can track your activity on any computer you're logged in to.

To be honest, this change should have happened a good 10 or 15 years ago. Safe Search should be the default, and you should have to go through some work to prove that you're 18 before you can turn it off. No one is that lazy when it comes to getting porn. You'll figure it out. And so will kids, but at least their parents can feel slightly better about themselves thinking little Johnny is innocent while he secretly watches Japanese pillow fetish porn after bedtime.

If I had to go to hell and back to be able to download some buildings for Simcity4, certainly the same should be applied to those trying to watch porn.

But I'm forced, against my will, to wonder what "Japanese pillow fetish porn" could possibly be. I'd imagine it'd look something like this.

Where did Japan go wrong? Huh

Just as well. If you want to cultivate the kids so that they can grow up as users of a service, then it is best for business that parents allow kids to use it. Pornography, extremism, scams, and pedophile lures don't belong on a general-use search engine.

Isn't this the primary use of google?   So, computer repairmen - tell us how the people will find their porn?  Is there any other searcher?

Read this...

Once you find a good site or 2 you don't need the google.

Most people found a decent site years ago and just sort of click on links from there.  Never really thought about it because I don't indulge on a regular basis but the thought of googling that kind of thing really never occurred to me.  I suppose I had to have started somewhere long, long, ago.  Truth be told though I don't remember.
