Though I supported one of your opponents for this election, I congratulate you on a fair victory and look forward to a productive working relationship in C.A.R.E. Smiley

I will give a longer speech tomorrow since it's quite late and I need to recover from a cold and Switzerland's defeat in the final of the ice hockey world championships. Wink

For now, thanks for all the congratulations and to everyone who made this victory possible!

Congratulations ZuWo. I know we haven't always agreed in the past, but I hope that over the next few months, we can all come together to work for a better Mideast. I wish luck to both you and your Lt. Governor in the coming days.

The results have not been certified yet but it seems rather obvious that I and Cathcon have won the election for Governor and Lt. Governor. I am thrilled and thankful for all of your votes and congratulations in this thread. I would also like to congratulate those who have been elected to the Assembly. A special thanks goes out to my Lt. Governor who has advised and supported me throughout the campaign. Smiley

Being Governor of the largest Atlasian region is an immense responsibility, and while my office will force me to take decisions that will not please all citizens I can assure you that I will work to the best of my ability. As I said before the election, many issues that our region is facing can and should not be tackled in an ideological way. Thus, even if you do not have many things in common with me and my Lt. Governor on the ideological level, there will be many opportunities where we can work together rather than against each other.

Indeed, the first major issue the Mideast is facing is our budget. Governor Tmthforu94 has already worked on it with GM Griffin so I hope and expect that we will soon be able to pass a sensible budget proposal.
Additionally, there are various "technical" matters that I wish to tackle. For example, the "Questioning the Power Act" should also involve the Lt. Governor. Furthermore, we should discuss the idea of establishing activity requirements in the Assembly so that legislators who have missed a certain number of votes without having posted a leave of absence could be expelled from the Assembly. Finally, we could fill future vacancies in the Assembly by means of a special election rather than an appointment by the Governor.

We are only at the beginning of this journey and I haven't even discussed most of these ideas with my Lt. Governor yet, but I merely want to point out that there will be a lot of things to debate during my and Cathcon's term.

Once again, thanks to all of you!

Attention Mideasterners,

you can vote on the "Federal Amendment Amendment 2". I encourage you to approve the amendment, which proposes a voting period of seven days and only requires a simple majority of Mideast citizens voting for a federal amendment to be ratified.

You can vote in this thread:

Federal Amendment Amendment 2 ratified

I am pleased to announce that the Federal Amendment Amendment 2 has been adopted by the citizens of the Mideast (by 16 to 8 votes if we accept drj's vote as valid). That's very positive from a constitutional point of view because it means the Mideast has a method to ratify federal amendments, which is important for Atlasia as a whole.

Thank you!

Yay! Smiley Just a reminder: The "We Need More Political Parties" amendment needs to be ratified by the region. We couldn't vote on it until we passed a way to conduct federal amendments.

Thanks for the reminder!

Since the "Federal Amendment Amendment 2" makes clear that a vote on a federal amendment should begin on the Thursday which follows the amendment's adoption by the Senate and that day already passed, the voting will begin in a few minutes.

I will not be available today and tomorrow due to a weekend trip. I will return and be able to debate the two bills that have already been introduced to the Assembly at the beginning of the next week, though.

Using a colloquial term my Lt. Governor seems to love, I can announce that the supreme dawg of the Mideast has returned a bit earlier than expected. I will be able to contribute to the bills that have been introduced to the Assembly tomorrow.

Meanwhile, please have a look at the On Second Thought, We Do Have Expectations Amendment and vote!

The following bill has passed:

Amendment to the Question the Power Act
1. Once every month, the Governor and the Lt. Governor of the Mideast shall be required to dedicate a part of their time to provide answers to questions which citizens may ask in a special thread. This thread shall be made specifically for the purpose of a "question session". This thread shall be created by the Governor or the Lt. Governor.

2. The special thread shall be opened, or a previous thread bumped, on a Monday. The Governor or Lt. Governor can end such a question session at their own discretion.

I'm considering crafting a bill which would establish activity requirements for members of the Assembly. Concretely, if a member of the Assembly misses a certain number of votes, he/she will be expelled from the Assembly. As far as I know such a tool exists in the Northeast and has already been used a couple of times.
