Given that most of the center right parties of the world are in many ways much closer to the political centre than US Republicans, if you lived in, say, a European nation, do you think you would actively support, or at least consider voting for a conservative/christian democratic/libertarian party.
I cannot imagine many liberals in the US looking too unfavourably on the policies of Tories in the UK, the Swedish Moderaterna, or the libertarian FDP in Germany, to name a few.
Edit- Sorry for the poor grammar in the poll.

Most Democrats would be looking for something more progressive than the Tories.

From what I've seen of this forum, I can't imagine many D avatars voting for right wing parties, let alone the Conservative Party.

The Conservative Party isn't really THAT far to the left of the Republican Party...

Most of the Dems on this forum are to the left of most Democratic Party politicians. Ergo, most of them will vote for left wing parties in Europe as well.

Quite surprised. So it seems, that most US Dems do feel closer to European Social Democracy than moderate, relatively secular European liberal Conservatism.

Really?  You didn't realize that most Obama voters for example want universal health care, legalization of marijuana, strict gun control laws and many other things the President and Democrats in Congress would never do?  The only reason people vote for the Democrats is because when you have to pick between two right-wing parties you vote for the one that is not bats**t insane.
Just go to Huffington Post or dailykos and you will see that Democratic voters in general are way to the left of the Democratic party.  I would even go as far as saying that progressive Americans are to the left of progressives in other industrialized nations.

I would imagine a lot of people would feel insulted if you would say the dailykos describes them. That is like saying all Republicans love and agree with anything on Newsmax.

They certainly are not, overall, on issues such as taxation.

I mentioned that website because pretty much everyone who writes there is a Democrat.

I voted for the third result. Europe is more left-wing than the U.S. and as a person who considers himself to be a mostly moderate American-style Liberal, some of the policies of Social-Democratic Parties are too left-wing for me, but I'm still quite a bit to the left of the Tories, though I would definitely consider voting for them in certain elections. I would probably identify with the mainstream party of the Left in a respective nation, but I'd probably be a member of the respective party's right or centrist wings.

Social Democrat/Socialist at heart, though often a supporter of more far-left alternatives due to the movement of many European Social Democratic Parties to neoliberalism.

I'm not sure exactly which party I would join, but I would support someone or some party on the left in Europe. Based upon what gets filtered through here in the States, and I admit that I should follow European news better than what I do, but I would surely be Labour in the UK and I would have supported Hollande's party in France. And I have little doubt that the European right would like to take too many steps in the direction of the American right, and that in my mind would be something Europe would want to avoid.

This type of premise (which comes up too often) is fairly absurd. OK yes European conservative parties aren't viciously anti-gay, aren't full of people who believe the Earth is 6000 years old, and don't have much of an NRA element. That doesn't make them appealing to US Democrats unless these people are single issue voters. You seriously think most US Democrats would be inclined to support the party of Thatcher?

In addition its worth noting that European conservatives aren't any better than/are arguably worse than the Republicans in regards to xenophobia.

That's an absolutely correct observation - those things listed often form litmus tests here on the right. But because those things might not exist in more over-all progressive societies CERTAINLY does not mean all the requirements progressives have for social justice have been met. In fact, the things listed are relatively new problems, and they make the right embarrassingly extreme, IMO.

I figure a staple of the right no matter where is to be anti-labor, which is relatively ancient, in fact, and I could never go along with that.

Most of the people that support the Dems in America but lean right in general are either indies or suburbanites, and I dunno if we have many of those on here.

Spot on. Two Thatcherite parties and classical liberals (that are right of CDU) are not the centrist option, no matter how much deluded right-wingers wish them to be so.

Ressurecting.
Surely there must be more people American Dems who'd consider themselves moderately conservative on a first-world democracy scale.

What we consider ourselves doesn't matter. The Democratic Party is the only viable option of anyone with a remotely progressive or "left-wing" or even moderately liberal bone in their body. So we all get sucked into the Big Tent of the Democratic Party, even though many if not most of us wish for something more progressive.
