Post about new shootings here. Considering their frequency, this will probably remain on the first page.

I think we should also set up one in the International board to keep it fair.

Done.

Colorado seems to have even more of these than most of the country...

Mother shoots home intruder five times in face and neck after he cornered her in attic with her twins, 9

God bless this great woman and the second Amendment.

You know: A small number of the polls you posted last year actually were right. Most weren't, and you refrained from posting anything that was unfavorable to your party.

Here, we have a case where gun ownership was a good thing. But it usually isn't, and you don't care to mention or even consider cases that don't support your position.

Here's a fun fact

http://www.shakesville.com/2013/01/number-of-day_9.html

643: The number of people in the US who have been killed by guns since the Newtown shooting.

Don't bore us with such details.

Of course both happen, but we need to keep cause and effect in mind.

Who said anything about anyone being shot dead?

Yes, the people have a right to shoot someone who is robbing them. One cannot mind read the intent of the perp, and the perp could easily go from a robber to a shooter. Unless he is shot first.

Guilty until proven innocent...hm?

Not disputing your claim, a Person, but why is that an argument against trying to solve the gun problem? Seems like it's a large number of people that shouldn't have to die.

The point was that it's not, in any reasonable context, a "large number of people." While the number of people that die of smoking-related causes is. (And there is obviously less of a "purpose" for tobacco than for guns)
Consistency would be nice, is all I'm saying.

Would you also agree that the number of people dying of AIDS annually is not a large number in any reasonable context? (At least in rich countries) That could certainly be used to justify devoting resources to "more important" causes.

I don't find that particular type of argument very appealing, though.

And the madness continues in IL:

5 shot to death in small Illinois town; gunman killed in police shootout

(CNN) -- Five people were killed and a 6-year-old girl was taken to a hospital after a shooting in a tiny western Illinois village early Wednesday, officials said.

The gunman, identified as Rick Odell Smith, 43, was killed after a chase and shootout with police hours later, authorities said.

"There is no reason to believe there is any further danger to the communities or that there are any other suspects," Illinois State Police Lt. Col. Todd Kilby said Wednesday.

Not sure if I've been to that village, but it's close to several places I've been...

Well giving a 5-year old a rifle as a gift was certainly a great idea. Roll Eyes

Those parents should be imprisoned for 10-15 years and the boy given to foster parents.

I agree, but in America (well....maybe if he were a few years older...) it's probably more likely that the boy will be charged with something.

Yeah it's quite amusing that Krazen actually thinks he's making a good point.
