But as far as dumbInks with guns causes problems versus person with gun saves the day, it would be nice to have some stats on both and it would be nice if people could acknowledge that both happen. Vaccines can cause problems too for some people. It's basic epidemiology. Unfortunately, the NRA has blocked such research for obvious political reasons.

Can't someone besides the NIH and CDC do this research?

Stop with all these idiotic "look at people defending themselves!" posts. Especially Miles, who ought to know better- it's one thing for krazen (a certified troll) and some newbie to do it, but it's beneath you.

One thousand Americans have died since Newtown at the hands of guns. One thousand. That number in and of itself is indefensible. Yet you people propose we do nothing. It's sickening. For what? Your right to overthrow the government? How about we cut crime by making it legal to be black for one thing (because it's practically illegal when one in three wind up in prison), and ending the insane "War" on Drugs?

How are stricter gun laws going to translate to fewer blacks in prison? Isn't it the reverse?

I'm advocating stricter gun laws in conjunction with drug legalization and the end of the persecution of minorities (loitering laws, petty crimes, truancy, pervasive discrimination) through which means we can organically reduce the vectors for crime in black and other inner city communities. The victims of the Newtown shooting weren't all black (although, had two nephews of mine not changed schools, they could have been shot- their teacher was), but black Americans remain disproportionately affected by the gun epidemic.

We need a War on Guns, not a War on Drugs.

but aren't gun laws enforced in a discriminatory manner also?
