I'm considering putting together an omnibus higher education bill during the next session. If a couple of other Senators are willing to help, the Internal Affairs Committee would be a decent platform for this project. I'm even willing to chair the committee if I know that I can count on involvement from others (although I'd prefer that someone else take the reigns, as I intend to run for GOR Chair again). However, if there's no interest, I won't seek to remain on the committee, which, frankly, was completely useless during the previous session.

That sounds like an interesting endeavour and one I would be glad to help out on if necessary. However, I don't really want to get entangled into two committees.

All right, the session has begun, so you have seventy-two hours to make your declarations ULTRA-OFFICIAL, and then we'll begin voting.

Also: Who's up for PPT?

GOR, NSC, Judiciary

Listed in order of how much I would like a seat on the committee, although any would be an honor Smiley

I declare for the Government Oversight & Reform Committee.

Since I am not yet ready to burn my draft card, I will thus declare for the position of President Pro-Tempore. In November, my purpose was to revive the Senate's reputation (which worked as best as could have been hoped I guess. We discussed and passed a lot of stuff on our end. Some may not like the content or the quality but that isn't as much a responsibility of the PPT as it is the Senate as a whole, though I do try to keep a balance between the two where possible). This time, my primary goal is to keep that going and to try and get the Committees in the game before it is too late for them.

I'M COMING FOR YA COMMITTEE CHAIRS!!!! Evil Evil Evil

As much as I want a spot on GOR, Atlasia is best served having Senator Averroes Nix on that committee, once/if that is assured then I'll start worrying about getting myself a position (same with Senator Ben and NSC).

Franzl is second because he is the last one who showed interest in it and thus is the frontrunner when I skipped ot Canada. The rest are based on senority. I do this to emphasize that I am not the only one who can do this, anyone can if they can be dedicated enough to get it done and done right.

I tried to make sure everyone got atleast a 3rd on atleast 1 committee, while at the same time trying to get people on them that would take them somewhere. However, that became difficult with the Judiciary and Oakie got the short end of the stick. Sorry, man. Sad

Yankee is elected PPT.

GOR, first preferences:

Nix 6
Yankee 3
Oakvale 1

Nix is elected. His votes are redistributed:

[Nix 3]
Yankee 4
Oakvale 2
X 1

Yankee is elected. His votes are redistributed:

[Yankee 3]
Oakvale 2.6
X 1.4

Oakvale is elected without a quota.

NSC, first preferences:

Ben 5
Spamage 2
X 2
Barnes 1

Ben is elected. His votes are redistributed:

[Ben 3]
Spamage 3.2
X 2
Barnes 1.8

Spamage is elected. His votes are redistributed:

[Ben 3]
[Spamage 3]
X 2.16
Barnes 1.84

X is elected without a quota.

JUD, first preferences:

Barnes 3
Hagrid 3
Franzl 2
Oakvale 2

Barnes and Hagrid are elected with no surplus. Oakvale, having more second preferences than Franzl, is (I think?) elected without a quota.

IA:

It doesn't really matter as there were only three people running, but for what it's worth Hagrid got 6 first preferences, Franzl 2, and Julio 1.

Ah well, always knew GOR was a long shot, but at least I've positioned myself for the next opening.  Plus, I got on the NSC Smiley

I declare for GOR Chair.

X, although you're not on the committee in this session, you are welcome to comment on our hearings.

Thank you, it would be my pleasure Smiley
