George Washington has won re-election. Since Adams and Jefferson are tied, the subtraction of my vote puts Jefferson in the second spot. A sad day, yes, but we will overcome nonetheless. Putting the results into a map and electoral vote format will be hard.

The 1792 United States Presidential Election
While originally, Governor George Clinton's attempt to unseat President Washington was the big news of the 1792 election, soon, newspapers were dragged into a much more contentious fight. The Republicans' second candidate, State Secretary Thomas Jefferson, found himself potentially beating incumbent Vice President, Federalist John Adams. The newspaper war that followed--Adams vs. Jefferson--would ignite a political rivalry that would plague Jefferson the rest of his political career. The pair, who had been friends in the revolutionary days, would only reunite in 1812, four years after Jefferson had left the presidency and eight years after Adams had left politics.
