Felsenmeer in the western Odenwald on good friday.

Your woods seem so open and hikeable compared with ours.  Walking through the woods here is a most unpleasant, painful exercise of climbing over fallen trees and through endless eye-height brush (mostly hazelnuts, juneberries, chokecherries, and tree saplings).  Though that's in the sandy soil forests... the clay soil forests around here are mostly maple, birch, and oak... and are relatively brush free (it's too shady).. and they're a joy to walk through.  You feel like you're "in the woods" and not just negotiating your way through a thicket.

Is that a beech in that picture?  I wish we had beech trees here... too dry and cold though.

Swedish Cheese, the church official in that picture (is it a cardinal?) looks like the head religious lady from Bajor on Star Trek Deep Space Nine.

And Sawxdem... it's part of being white.  You're either pasty white or pinkish red.

I think the look on Holmes' face describes Canada to a tee.  Nothing extreme, oh heavens no... but cautiously content, eh?

Hagridofthedeep also has the same general look.  My guess is that white Canadians come from a relatively homogeneous stock... mostly British Isles... unlike the U.S. which was strongly influenced by non-Anglo whites.

Just to clarify, I don't hate Canada or anything. I like both a hell of a lot. There's just something so unabashed about America that really turns me on and tingles my senses...

Strongly disagree. I don't always agree with trends, but FWIW, carpet is super duper out of style right now. I'm on board in this case. It's also a pain in the R-MI to clean.

Speak for yourself.  As someone who enjoys being barefoot in the house I prefer the lush softness of carpet to the coldness of faux-wood.
