If you didn't vote for him, you have nothing to apologize for.  It's those who did vote for Ted Cruz who need to apologize.

I very much disagree with the poem, but I'd rather not go into a cookie-cutter "you can have morals without religion" rant.

I'm hopeful about Davis's candidacy, obviously, but I'm not convinced she's going to win.  I can see her helping downballot Dems and giving the Texas Democratic Party a much-needed boost, though.

I'd love to see Lewis' thoughts on liberal Christianity.

I'd love to see Lewis' thoughts on liberal Christianity.

I would too, actually, but he probably wouldn't comment on it if he were alive today.  Or maybe he would.  I don't know.  But the only Christianity of Lewis's time that he cared about, was mere Christianity.

How about a return of John Adams for a second term?

@ Scott: Coffee is something for drinking at 3 in the morning at a Waffle House to help the indigestion you're about to suffer after you finish eating with keeping you awake during your road trip.

I very much disagree with the poem, but I'd rather not go into a cookie-cutter "you can have morals without religion" rant.

Given who Eliot was, it was more a slam at his previous church (he had converted to Anglicanism from Unitarianism a few years prior) than a slam at the irreligious.  One can be irreligious and still believe in good and evil and in the imperfectability of man that many, both those with and without religion, would rather not accept.

I'd love to see Lewis' thoughts on liberal Christianity.

I would too, actually, but he probably wouldn't comment on it if he were alive today.  Or maybe he would.  I don't know.  But the only Christianity of Lewis's time that he cared about, was mere Christianity.

That's interesting.  I didn't think "liberal Christianity" was really a thing back then.  Or, it was, but it was named by Rauschenbusch, and other theologians, "Social Christianity," which I'm not sure Lewis was familiar with.  On the other hand, the Christianity of today is considerably different from the Christianity of yesterday, so I don't know what he'd think of the modern 'liberal Christian' movement.  Meh.  In any case, I still like Lewis.  I fell asleep to an audio recording of Mere Christianity last night.  Kinda weird, waking up every two hours to the monotone voice of a man explaining Christianity to me.  I think I'll do it again tonight.

Anyhow, now I'm rambling.  I'll stop hijacking the thread now.

I absolutely love that you included an image of a man on a riding lawnmower in your Florida campaign poster.
