José Serrano apparently introduces one of these every congress. They never even get out of committee.

I'd support it, but it won't go anywhere.

I'd support eliminating term limits of any kind. You'd have to make it apply for only future office holders, though.

It wont go anywhere.. we should just elect Bill Clinton President for life though. I'd be cool with that.

I support one, 6-year term.  These guys don't do sh**t their last 2 years because they're too burned out.

Fine with me;

2016:

Christie / Rubio (R) 52% 276 EV
Obama / Cuomo (D) 47% 262 EV

There's nothing inherently scary about third terms.

How about just no consecutive terms and no formal limit on the number?

Obama wouldn't even run for a third term if he was able to.

You do mean

Christie / Rubio (R) 47% 221 EV
Obama / Schweitzer (D) 52% 317 EV

If you guys couldn't beat the guy in the perfect storm that was 2012, I don't see how you beat him while he's riding a full-scale economic recovery, after passing Comprehensive Immigration Reform, and most likely Tax Reform with a shrinking deficit.

Unless it's Bush's third term.

My ideal system would be that presidents only get one term, but that one term is 6 years long. That way, presidents can actually focus on their job the whole term rather than devoting the last third of their first term to campaigning for reelection, but it wouldn't be as if a president could only serve a maximum of four years giving them little opportunity to make a profound difference.

A 5% popular vote margin would be a much bigge win for Christie. If it's still 52-47, you'd probably flip NH, PA, VA, MI, WI, IA, and some of NV, MN, NM, and ME-02.

Gotta agree with Franzl on this one. Though I think in any case the two-term thing is so ingrained in American culture a President trying to violate it would be shot down fast, the people deserve the right to vote on it Smiley

I wouldn't like this no matter who was running.  Too much power has been installed in the executive as it is.
