No. I think the rich should pay a bit more since it's not as big of a deal to them to lose the money and taxing the poor while subsidizing a bunch of things for them seems sort of pointless.

No, but taxes should be much, much flatter.

No.  I have yet to see a flat tax proposal that wasn't intended as a stealth tax cut, which means either our fiscal situation would get worse or we'd be stuck with both the new flat tax and the old bumpy tax.

I think we should have a Progressive Tax System, but with lower rates across the board.

A flat tax doesn't make any sense unless you completely eliminate regressive taxes such as the sales system.  Also corporate profits, real estate earnings and any similar forms of income should be taxed a lot more.

This, but I wouldn't have a problem with a strong hike after a certain high income level.

I support the FairTax, but with a flat tax you'd essentially have what TJ mentioned about taxing the poor and then turning right around and giving the money back to them; all that does is make more jobs for bureaucrats.

No - but not lolno.  A flat tax can be a serious proposal, with possible benefits to economic growth - and a number of countries have decided to go this route.  But at least in the US context, I don't believe it's the best option.  I think it makes sense for the wealthiest to pay a substantially larger share, so that those with lower incomes can keep more of what they earn, and have an opportunity invest it in making a better life for themselves and their families.  (That's not to say that the progressive income tax itself is necessarily the best way to fund the government.)
