Under most - but certainly not all - circumstances I would oppose the flat tax. Progressive taxes are not the only viable path to a more just distribution of resources in society. But because most people who support the flat tax would reject the accompanying policies I'd like to see put in place, for the sake of practicality it seems proper for me to vote "no" in this thread's poll rather than abstaining.
Tell me, in which tax system would you consider a flat income tax to be "fair"? I like to think I have some fantasy with regards to tax policy, but I can't think of any such scenario.
