Interesting that the most Dem Detroit has been was 1968
Indeed. That is particularly true since metro Detroit has expanded into five surroudning counties, including heavily Republican Livingston County, while the above figures reflect the tri-county area only. Of course, the big bugaboo in 1972 was busing and the failure of (white) union members to back McGovern.
