I hate to sound like a liberal, but it is hard to resist: why not let them all go their own way, and save all that money?  is it the cheap labor for the auto manufacturers?

Huh? Mississippi is neither an oil state nor a corn state. It's mostly unsettled forests.

It does rank 13th in oil production nationwide, with 2.08M barrels a month. But in any case, I simply assumed Tweed was speaking about those who are talking about disobeying (and possibly even seceding from) the federal government on account of not winning an election this one time and then the time after that.

I never thought Roger Wicker would be dethroned as America's most stupid politician.

An uppity black man from the North putting limits on what sort of guns one can own is enough to give any unreconstructed Southerner an aneurysm.

Which is why I'd seriously support labour camps. Now and today for the still treason-minded.

They weren't kidding when they said they wanted to frame Obama as a "Metrosexual, Black, Abraham Lincoln".  In the South that has implications of a "fancy-pants/gay" black liberal coming like a Union general to force his way on "Real America".
