That is the origin and it also now a television show on MTV. The concept is also in the news due to the Manti Te'o scandal, although I'm sure Aussies aren't up on that.

So someone making that persona their real one?

Aizen would be funny, but I would love to see simfan.

EDIT This is boring now, I like my version better, The best example of this is probably the Andrews relationship if taken seriously.

Michael Anthony Naso Jr. is certainly on the list. It may have even happened to him already.

I'm currently in a Savile Row tweed jacket, bow tie, and graph check shirt.  I'm very real,  thank you.

On the internet, everyone is being Catfished to one extent or another. It's the nature of the beast.

I don't mean in the sense of someone not really being who they say they are but instead someone who uses that fake persona to lure someone into an online relationship, as in the documentary and television show.

I should think so.  Actually I haven't yet figured out what what is being discussed in this thread, but I still don't trust any living person, even those I've known my whole life.  Does the subject of this thread involve trusting someone?

To be Catfished, one must a) trust someone they only know through the Internet and b) have a desire for a non-physical online relationship with someone they've never met in real life. I don't think you fit either criteria.

This is why I pointed to the Andrews, but either they're trolling or there actually is something, and I doubt its a catfish.
