A little OT, but why are there independent candidates in just about every gubernatorial race in Maine? Do they have really lax ballot requirements? Do people figure it's a small state that's inexpensive to campaign in so why the hell not? Or just a lot of hyper-ambitious people who'd rather fall on their sword than be a good team player for their party?
