Actually you're wrong, they don't help at all. You don't know what's happening behind the scenes - we think about every candidate recruitment long and hard to pick the best candidate who will make the best legislator. It was totally within peebs' rights to remain in the race, but she recognized the consequences of that, and decided to do what was best for the party.

I thought you could - you could only take one seat though (ie. if you're elected to both, you choose which one you want).

I would assume that would be if more than 5 laborites ran for house, otherwise that sounds kind of unfair...

The problem was that the southern senate election took place a week before; and I wanted to get the slate for the House done early. So if Peebs had won the Senate seat on the weekend we would have had a scramble to find a new house canidiate.
