Running for reelection to the Northeast Assembly.

I think you're too late to get onto the ballot (you have to declare on or before the Wednesday before the Friday before the election Friday).  But you certainly can accept write-ins.

You really want to fight this? Is this really worth your time?

I don't want to fight anything.  The Northeast Constitution needs to be adhered to, regardless of the outcome.  If you don't like the rule, change the constitution.  Don't blame the messenger.

We have time limits on declaring for office for a reason.  In theory, someone could ask the CJO for an absentee ballot any time in the week running up to the election.  If candidates don't declare by that time, they would be on the final ballot but not the absentee ballot, which puts absentee voters at a disadvantage.

He is right.

It's like pulling someone over for speeding when he's going 31mph in a 30mph zone.

The rules are what the rules are.  If you don't like them, change them.

What's the sense of having a constitution if we just ignore it when it seems convenient?

I will be standing in the Northeast Governor election - and Northeast Assembly election (should this be allowed by NE law).

There is no Northeast law barring one from running for both offices simultaneously.

I am announcing my intention to run for the Northeast Assembly seat as a write-in candidate.

In the current special election, I assume?

I formally declare my candidacy for the Northeast Assembly.

XX NHI

I'm going to take this to mean you declare in this weekend's special election, unless you specify otherwise.

I hereby formally declare my candidacy for the special election for Speaker Pikachu's seat, not Enduro's.

There isn't going to be a special election for Pikachu's seat.  Since it is less than 2 weeks until the end of the Assembly's term, the governor's appointee will sit until the end of the term under the relevant law.

You are welcome to declare in the regular February Northeast Assembly election, if you wish.

Did you mean Governor of the North, or do you mean in the June Northeast election if the Senate isn't seated by then and the Northeast still exists.

I will accept write-ins for the North's Class II Senate seat to give voters a choice on the ballot.  No election should be uncontested, particularly the first one.
