This is 2% higher than the compromise requested by those on the left.  Is this more acceptable?

That's not true and you know it.  Hell, Tmth first mentioned that possibility in a PM only to reject it later (although he admittedly never committed, only put it out there).

I only saw you post it.  How the hell was I supposed to know that he sent it in a PM?  You made some post about 113% was acceptable... I don't remember.

Fine... screw it... I don't care.  Let's just make it 120%.  Is that enough of a compromise now?

Well, somebody put up an amendment... I don't care who or what it is.  But if you don't like 110%, put it up now, or forever hold your peace.

I'll vote against raising the debt limit.  I only support changes to the percentage of the deficit.

And you're willing to support it at that point, correct?

If the 2/3 is what you're worried about, I would be willing to eliminate that in exchange for say, 110%?

Then that section of the bill is pointless. I propose the following amendment instead.

No, that would mean it can never be overridden.  You'll have  to remove sections 2 and 3.

While I'm worried about that, it is an unnecessary evil because we have to have something to allow us to go over the limit in the case of an emergency. I am just afraid that might always be possible in a case of an emergency due to the economic ideologies of potential Assemblymen. That is why I am fighting to have the limit be as high as reasonably possible.

Well I'm just saying we'll give the Assembly discretion and let them go as high as they want, as long as its under the overall debt limit.

I agree with Gass.  I think the emergency clause is important because you never know when you have to go over the limit.  That's why I proposed a simple majority vote to do it instead of 2/3; I was trying to create a reasonable compromise.

IF a simple majority can go over the limit, how is there a limit?

We could only do it in emergencies that would be specifically designated in the bill.

What is an "emergency"?

Um... you can't just substitute revenue and GDP.  GDP is going to be substantially bigger than revenue.

If we do this by GDP, we'll have to wait until we have a GM in order to get an estimate of what our GDP currently is so we can come up with a figure.

I think the original pre-GDP plan was fine, for what it's worth.
