Loved his speech at the 2012 DNC, as well as his disparaging comments throughout the campaign lampooning Romney for being unable to poll over 40% in his home state. Tongue

Evil. However, he might be decent enough as secretary of state.

I was not enthused in 2004 when he was the nominee, I was at first certain he would lose and I felt he ran such a lifeless campaign, especially when he never fought back against those Swift Boat attack ads.

How surprised was I in 2008 and 2012 when he delivered witty, punchy convention speeches. I think based on policy, he could have made an excellent President and he will be an excellent SoS, however, if he were to be a successful President, he would have needed to become far less passive.

FF... it seems like he got a lot better after the 2004 campaign.

I think a lot of that might have something to do with people actually having paid attention to what he has done since then.

Yeah, the 2012 speech is actually the first time I really saw Kerry speak and I couldn't help but think "wait is this the John Kerry that ran that aloof, wimpy, dull 2004 campaing?". I really rediscovered him that night.

I think he comes off as kinda a dork in his speeches, but he's comes across as thoughtful and smart conversationally - at least on foreign policy.  I think he'll be a relatively good Secretary of State, perhaps excellent.
