A great man who should've been President, if not for the Rove-Bush machine stirring up lies about him back in 2004 questioning his patriotism. Massive FF.

Freedom Fighter. It's good to see him (somewhat) vindicated.

FF. His loss in 2004 hit me pretty hard. I'm very glad to see him get the State Department.

I can't stand him.  I'm certain he has a command of the facts necessary to do the job so that's all that matters, I guess.

^^^^

He's still a raging ______, but as long as he can do the job, he can be a ______ all he wants.  Still wouldn't trust him with a dollar though.

I think he would have lost even without the personal attacks, since i don't think America wasn't ready to cut off Bush completely. Tongue

Anyway, definite FF.

Not Presidential material, still wouldn't vote for him in a 2004 redo against Bush.

He's a decent enough bureaucrat to be SoS, though.

Yeah, I agree with that. He would have been a good one. But more than Bush's attack dogs, he was kind of the Dem version of Romney. Just had a hard time connecting. if he had, he could have overcome much of that attack stuff, I think.

Neutral. He's a good internationalist WASP diplomat like Dean Acheson and Averell Harriman were. Didn't really have the mettle for elective politics; certainly wouldn't have gotten far if he had tried to make a political career in a less-safe state like Illinois.
