Sounds good to me.  That, and they shouldn't have any power to delete posts, ban anyone, or give any infraction points.   In fact I would suggest that the position have no actual vested powers or rights other than to be addressed as 'sir' or 'your honor' (as to which I defer to the forum to choose).

The mods shouldn't be in the business of policing what is said around the forum, only banning socks and obscene trolls. The market will decide which posts are good and which are poor, and people who are out of line will not be tolerated too long. That is the way it is on my alma matter's sports forum, and there are few problems there. For example, was John Engle really that big of a threat? What did he do to hurt anyone on hear?

I only say this because I received death points for the first time in my 4 years here a few months ago for posting the lyrics of a song in a post, which I felt was a bit ridiculous.
