Not really a shift.  The hemp varieties used for fiber and other non-drug uses have so little THC as to be worthless as pot.

Not surprising at all. Kentucky was the heart of hemp production back in the old days. It would be big money for a poor state.

This would put Kentucky in a great place, strategically, should marijuana be legalized. Which means we're probably going to see the federal government move on the issue soon. Always follow the money!

(Bonus guess: Republicans will ultimately support legalization from an anti-Mexico standpoint.)

Kudos to McConnell for supporting something good. If hemp is legalized and immigration is reformed, that's two productive goals completed.

Hemp was illegalized because of Big Timber. Some flimsy reasons were given.
