V8 Fusion for an 8 oz glass gives you only 50 calories and one serving each of fruits and vegetables!  So much better than soda!!

Those numbers aren't right... how did you come up with those stats?

I'll concede the servings of veggies and fruit, but this is straight from the label on the bottle.

Ahh... so you bought V8 V-Fusion Light.  But that means that you're only getting 1/4 cup of veggies and 1/4 cup of fruit.  Well that's at least better than getting regular V8 V-Fusion.

That's what it is, yes.  And, it does say 1/4 cup each in the fine print.  Plus, either product is much better than popping open a can of Coca Cola, of which I still have one can in my refrigerator.  When I go to Walmart tomorrow night, my challenge to myself is to not buy any pop whatsoever, diet or regular.

And shooting yourself in the foot is better than shooting yourself in the head... it doesn't mean it's a good idea.  How many of these things are you drinking a day?

What, the Coke or the V8?

I can't really say on the V8, because I have only had two glasses ever, both of them this evening.

The Cokes?  WAAYYY too many!!

And, indeed, the label of my product does say V8 V-Fusion Light.

I would and will drink more water, but I need some kind of flavor.  I guess I could buy some of those Crystal Light lemonade packets that I believe are only 5 calories.

There you go... 5 calories instead of 50.  And that way, you're not overloading yourself on sodium either, because, from what your diet sounds like, you already have way too much sodium.

Which is bad for people with high blood pressure.

You need to be careful giving your card numbers to porn sites. Most of them are as unprotected as raw dog sex with a prostitute.

Oddly enough, it was a porn site, but I don't remember ever signing up for that particular site.  I have no idea how they got a hold of it, but to avoid this coming out in March, I am going to shut down my entire bank account and reopen it tomorrow after work.

All porn sites sleep together like all strippers grind their cooter on any man's cock that slips them a dollar bill. In short, if you give your card number to one site, you may as well send it to all of them.
This is not true. Some are much more legit than others. The big boys and girls of the porn biz are pretty much as safe as amazon.com.

Guys, he's coming from a starting point of soda, I don't think water with lemon (it's better with lime) is a realistic suggestion at this point.

Try some flavored seltzer if you like the carbonation like I do.  It's better for you (less chemicals)  in long run than the diet sodas. Just check the label on the back. Less ingredients the better. i.e Water, lemon flavoring (should have no salt etc).

This really isnt very complicated though.  Just dont drink too many of your calories because you wont be full.  Juice is alright but many have a good amount of sugar- natural or otherwise. The diet soda has no calories but studies have shown that the artificial flavorings can trigger cravings and your liver has to breakdown the chemicals in it. Dont abuse it.  Ultimately it comes down to would you rather have 4 cans of coke or a nice 10oz steak. The cokes may provide a quick burst of sugar rush but if not used will sit around your stomach.

I have a britta, and what I do sometimes is slice lemons or lime, maybe a cucumber, and place it in the filtered side, than fill with water.  That way when I go to have some water, it's naturally flavored.

Good Friday Evening! I've got the bank situation mostly resolved and now I am just going to relax the rest of the evening.  It is starting to snow just a little bit, and the temperatures are down from 40 degrees earlier this afternoon to 34 degrees currently. We should drop below freezing in the next 1-2 hours and then everything will start sticking. I've already made my Walmart run for the weekend so I have enough food in the house to stay in tomorrow and do laundry without starving.  I also made good on my challenge to myself, I bought no soda!

People who can't drink water have failed at life. Like seriously, people around the world walk for miles just for a jug of it, and you can't drink it because it's not flavored? Seriously?

I never said I can't drink or won't drink it, just most of the time I prefer flavor.  There are times when a cold bottle or cold glass of water is refreshing.  Having gone to Kenya, I am well aware that the ladies will walk for miles just to get a jug of water or a basket of food.  That's why I don't reject the notion that plain water is good in its own right.

Oh, and I have not failed at life.

Jeff, you have an addiction to flavored beverages.  I honestly don't think you could give up flavored beverages.

Why the anti-flavor orthodoxy? Do you guys never drink anything other than plain water? That sounds really boring.

I won't give it up, and really, there's no need to give up flavored beverages.  It just depends on what flavoring you put in there.  Flavored drinks can be really healthy, such as iced tea, unsweet or lightly sweetened, or the Crystal Light lemonade packets that only have 5 calories per 20 oz serving.  There are a number of different ways to make a flavored drink healthy.  It doesn't have to all be non-flavored water, although non-flavored water should not and really cannot be excluded.
