I'm playing a bit of strategy here.  I am spinning my wheels on my career right now and am not going anywhere with it.  I need to step back and regroup.  When I get home, I will still look for a job, any job, even a call center, but I will also go to a vo-tech that probably won't start until August.  Right now, Kenya will still probably happen in 4-5 years, but that will be the furthest thing of my mind.  What I want to do is focus on the here and now while paying down my bills so I can make the future plans even remotely possible.

He also says they left porno magazines and lubricant all over the shed, in addition to setting up one of his (?) chairs to perform sex acts on.

It wasn't my chair they used, from what my parents were telling me.

Update on the timeline.  When I leave all depends on what happens Monday.  If I am able to work the next two weeks, I will leave on Tuesday, March 5 and be home on Thursday, March 7.  If I am kicked out initially (which, in a round about way, is what Xerox in Oklahoma City did to me), then I will leave Tuesday, February 26 and be home by Thursday, February 28.  It is too late to be able to leave by February 19.

Sounds like we need to set up some cameras for a sting operation.

Are there any suspects, Bushie?

I would like to state that I've cracked the code of all this.

In English class, I was recently instructed on the details of the Kafka style. It involves a nightmare scenario, the Hellish aspects of modern life, the character--as in a nightmare--takes all the crap in stride. Look at all the unbelievable aspects of this: the kids in Kenya, the masturbater in the shed, this strange cycle of continued tragedy. And yet he doesn't question it! All of it is absurd and yet so utterly accepted as reality. What Mr. Oklahoma has been doing for the past God-knows-how-many years has been composing a Kafkaesque masterpiece the likes of which we never could have imagined. I'd like to elaborate more, but I feel I've said enough to properly demonstrate my thesis.

Alright,  this. I have to say it.  Jeff, when you get back to OK you should really look into seeking out some counseling or care.  Your decisions are just getting worse and you seem overwhelmed.
Some preacher isn't care either.  I do not say this to demean you in anyway. I reached a point a little over a year ago, where I realized I had fxcked up my life good and proper.  Drunk, fat, depressed sinking in debt with my best years seemingly in the rear view.  I either had to seek out some help to talk things through or just waste away.  Sometimes talking it through to a complete freaking stranger who is trained for this can put things in perspective and start helping you re-arranging things into their natural order. You have the pieces to be a success but you are just stuck in this irrational and self destructive pattern of behavior.

Why do you need to go to Oklahoma to go to vocational-technical school?  And if you're going to wait until August, why leave now?

How can you pay down your bills if you're unemployed?

How did you not think you'd be spinning your wheels?  We've been telling you to stop getting jobs at call centers for a while, but that doesn't mean quit when you don't have employment lined up.

Kenya clearly isn't the furthest thing from your mind, because you mention it a heck of a lot.  It seems like the furthest thing from your mind is holding down a steady job for more than 4 months.

He doesn't like stability or security because that means he has to be a grown up, look after himself and take responsibility for his decisions.

Not only does he run from conflict or any kind of difficulty but trusts in the advice of people who have consistently let him down. Ask this question ... Who has been right and who has been wrong?

Guys, let me be totally candid, for a second  These decisions are not totally my own.  You see, my parents still have had to help me out some financially, because my salary does not cover my bills and this past winter has been especially rough with a mortgage and associated utilities and a rent payment.  My father is the one who told me to come home.  I agreed with him and his plan.  They are still my parents and while they are helping me out, I have no choice but to honor them.  If I were supporting myself entirely, there is no doubt I would be staying in Utah.  Dad has a really good plan in mind for all this and he thinks coming back to Oklahoma is the fastest and most efficient way of getting me on my own entirely.  Once I am able to support myself entirely with nary a gift from them, then I can move away.  This is another reason I am not leaving for Kenya for another 4-5 years, at least.  It would be the mother of all foolish decisions to go to Kenya with them still supporting me.  I will be moving into their house in April just before my 31st birthday.  If all goes according to plan, I will be out into an apartment of my own in Oklahoma City somewhere by my 32nd birthday or shortly thereafter.  Yes, I will have to live under their rules for a while as I will be under their roof, but it will be the fastest and most efficient way to get me on my own entirely free from needing their support.  We are trying to go fast here because there is a possibility Dad's job could be in jeopardy within the next couple of years.  He doesn't have enough time in to be able to retire as he's only been with the company since 1999, which means he still has 6 years left before he gets any kind of retirement.  With Mom already retired, having a mortgage and a rent payment together would create unnecessary strain on our budgets.  So, for now, if we can eliminate both the rent and the mortgage and if I can find a job, any job, out there to help support the bills I currently have then things can proceed systematically to where I can pull out from under their support as soon as possible.

Yes, I will have to live under their rules for a while as I will be under their roof

Rules? No sweets before bed? Up by seven? No soda with dinner?

If that is actually what your father did, his judgment sucks. If I were your Dad, I would say, dump the house (just abandon the f'er), find a roommate, take the bus to work, and live close by, live within your means (lots of folks manage to that making what you do, so why can't you?), and if you come up with a plan for additional education after holding down your job for a year, that makes realistic sense, seems within your capacity to handle, for which there is a good job market, and given that you have managed to hold down a job for a year there is a reasonable prospect you might actually complete the program, then, and only then,  I will give you some financial help for that.

Is your Dad's judgment really that bad, or are you not giving the whole story yet again, that is the question.

And if he did, feel free to tell him, that I think he is ill serving you, and does have poor judgment, and may well be part of the problem. Thanks.

Oh, and why, just why, is it so difficult for you to tell us the truth the first time, or is part of the drama here, the game of catching you in your half truths, and non-truths?  Isn't that a sin in your religion, not being candid? Isn't it?  Heck this atheist thinks telling the truth is one of the two most important virtues, along with courage. If I can't trust folks to tell me the truth, I just get them out of my life - ASAP. Yes, I know, maybe I am a hardass. In fact I probably am.

Your dad has the worst advice. Listen, I've been drinking for awhile now, my friends are smoking and I don't touch the stuff, so I'm going to tell you that your dad and mummy's advice is some of the worst I've ever heard of. You don't need to be at home. You don't need to be living like you're in high school. I didn't read your post because the letters are too small but this is my advice. And I care about your future. The writers have developed this character like no other reality show.

1. Why does your dad want you to come home?
2. If you didn't take time off and didn't quit jobs so often, you wouldn't need to rely on your parents.
3. If your dad's job is in jeopardy, it is incredibly selfish of you to take their money knowing it could lead to their financial detriment.
4. Forget Kenya altogether for now.  Don't even talk about going in 5 years.  Until you can hold a job for at least a year and support yourself, you shouldn't think about doing anything other than working your butt off to be self-sustaining.

Yeah, quitting your job in Utah seems like a bad idea right now. Selling the house in Oklahoma is a good idea though, and you should have given it up for rent in the first place so you at least had some help paying the mortgage, and wouldn't have to worry about vandalism and theft. Moving back to Oklahoma would make sense if you already had a job lined up there. Unless you have been fired, it doesn't make any sense to leave Utah. Make some cuts to get by. Get rid of cable. Get a roommate. Stop eating out.

We have thought about renting it out, but don't want the hassle of being a landlord.  We also can't afford to hire anybody to manage the renting for us.

Inks, I would appreciate it if you stopped reminding me of my "failures", which really are not failures, and stop with the "I told you so" crap.  You do realize that doesn't help, right?  Let me be clear, I HAVE NOT FAILED AT LIFE.
