I'm telling you guys, it would be a lot easier for farmers to fix their numbers if you base it on profit. The smart way to go, which is what the Northeast Region also did, is to base it off revenue.

Well the amendment is failing 2-1 right now.

Obviously. I'm just re-iterating my point to the remaining 2 voters. I don't know why this amendment was even proposed again considering the negatives of basing it off profit that have already been mentioned in this thread.

Seeing no further debate, this is brought to a final vote.  Members will vote AYE, NAY, or ABSTAIN.  This will be a 48-hour vote.

The original text proposed by the Governor.

This bill does have a revenue limit of $1,000,000, what the Northeast also has, and we're not spending one extra cent on this. It all comes from the budget.

If we could move that down to $100,000 I'd support it.

There is a huge difference between revenue and profit...we have to base it by revenue because if we base it off profit, it would be very easy for farmers to play the system and set it up to where they make right under the limit, such as making extra purchases to stay under. A $100,000 revenue limit is absolutely nothing - only extremely small farms would make under that. $1,000,000 is a very fair amount that would be solely used for smaller, family-run farms, and it is a number also passed by the Northeast Region.

How about $500,000?
