Elizabeth Warren II?

If he does run for Governor, I can't think of a candidate with a better resume than Condray.

Not Elizabeth Warren II because he'd be running for Governor of Ohio. As Governor of Ohio, he has no say on federal policy or policing Wall Street. If he isn't confirmed, the banks win, period.

well I was referring to the CFPB as being a launching pad to a statewide race.

The new GOP strategy — shrink government by delaying the filling of important posts.

Isn't the CFPB supposed to be non-partisan? Should it even require Senate confirmation?

The Constitution requires the Senate to give advice and consent for "all Officers" other than "inferior Officers". Since the CFPB is not within another department, any appointee to lead it must be confirmed by the Senate, no way around it.

Cordray would quite possibly be our strongest candidate for Governor, but I don't want the Republicans to be allowed to obstruct the renomination of someone as deserving him. That would be disgusting...

But as a two-term governor of Ohio, he'll be able to fix the horrendous gerrymandering when the census rolls around in 2020.

Well. It's getting much worse with much more important offices, anyway.

Two more years of Republicans doing nothing, voting no, pretending to represent the citizens,
while only representing themselves/corporations and banks while fighting over old battle wounds, and going no where.

Go cordray. Fillibusters should be banned on legislation. On nominations it should stil be allowed esp on Sam Alito.
