Christ, man, poors all have 'hundreds of dollars'.  They're not deads.

(you do realize that food, housing, transportation, clothing, medicines, etc, all cost hundreds of dollars every month, and without any of these they would eventually be dead?)

If your idea of 'not-poor' is someone who has a few hundred dollars, no wonder you're so confused.

Just because they have "hundreds of dollars" does not mean they have enough to buy a smartphone after paying for the expenses to which you alluded, never mind the cell phone service for which they would have to pay on a regular basis.  And I'm going to need some statistics if I am to believe your claim that "most people who have smartphones are poor."

The free phone service has 12.5 million users and cost the government $1.6 billion in 2011.  That's $128 a year per person.

I'm sure the government gets a hell of discount and all, but free iPhones with talk, text and data for $10 a month?  If they can swing that, then we all should be on the government plan.
