Not a surprise, as he's expected to run for Senate instead. Hutchinson v. Halter it is.

How 'bout that. Mike Ross quit his job at Southwest Power Pool.

'There might be a certain public sector job opening in Little Rock he could be looking into...

Yeah, Ross is almost certainly running. I don't know if Hutchinson is strong enough to prevail though.

I'm torn. I think Halter would be a better Governor and I'm impressed with the things he's campaigned on, but Ross could really salvage this seat.

Ross > Halter in my opinion.

I'm not sure Darr is strong enough to take on Boozman, but correct me if I'm wrong. Be
Beebe could take on Boozman, but he's probably done with politics.

Darr take on Boozman? I assume you mean Pryor, who'd beat him in the absence of a Pub wave. Only Cotton or Womack could take out Pryor.

Right, I keep getting Darr and Halter confused. I thought Darr was the Democrat.

We already knew this, but FWIW, Ross was officially in as of yesterday.

Pitching to moderates and Halterite Dems with his denunciation of the Legislature's moves on abortion.

Which is funny because he sided with the Republicans every time they tried to defund Planned Parenthood Tongue

I could see the Netroots pushing hard/raising money for Halter over Ross.

If he can win, then why not Halter? I would rather have a progressive-ish populist than a Blue Dog if either one has a good chance of winning.

Ross is the stronger candidate, plus Halter already has the liberal label attached to him from his run against Lincoln 2 years ago. Both Dems are helped by the fact that Hutchinson is a weak candidate, their own Stenberg: blown out 3 times statewide (25, 9, 15) and reliant on the state's heavy GOP tilt plus outside groups to pull him through. While he leads Ross 43-38 and Halter 47-28, I'd expect that to change once the campaign gets underway.
