President Debs puts the levers of government in the callused hands of the righteous American workingman and you want to return them to the corruption-greased hands of Tammany Hall? All true progressives should support the President.

Debs.

Of the others only La Follette is acceptable. Smith is just corrupt and Coolidge is inept.

If I'm not mistaken, current polling shows Debs with 45%, Coolidge with 27%, Smith with 18%, and La Follette with 9%, all figures being rounded to the nearest percentage point.

Let's go Debs!

Yeah, leftists voting for a leftist. How weird.

The cult that believes Seatown singlehandedly stole an election and lead to the biggest landslide in 50 years is far weirder.

Voted Coolidge of course, although I would be happy with a Smith victory.

LaFollette and Debs are toxic to me. Tongue

Quite sure Debs will win though. What a travesty.

I will stay the course and vote for Debs, if only to punish the red-baiters for their shameful treatment of the Socialist during and after the war.

If we want to throw out Debs, we have to do it with a candidate who can attract as much cross-ideological support as possible. Ergo, La Follette.

I don't follow your logic. Why not Smith?  He should be able to appeal to mainstream progressives as well as conservative Democrats, so long as they're not of the prohibitionist or bigoted variety.  I'm tempted to vote for him myself, especially with Underwood, but I can't not vote for Cal.

Smith is not actually that progressive (he became an opponent of the New Deal towards the end of his life) and he's a corrupt Tammany Hall guy.

1936 Al Smith isn't up for election. 1924 Al Smith is, so look at his record in New York as Governor.  Just because he is associated with Tammany doesn't make him corrupt.  Meanwhile, if you're a fan of New Deal policies, it doesn't make sense to vote for the party who considered it a vain attempt to prop up capitalism.
