So I talked to Dave, and we're not going to get the last one restored.  So we'll just have to pick up from where we left off.

This was the map we were last on:

As a reminder, here are the rules:
1. All Countries make up a single world in 2013.  All histories must align with each other.  The POD is sometime between 1200 and 1400.  Anyone born after the POD in real life won't have been born in this world, so while ideologies like Marxism and Lutheranism might exist, they should have different names.  Cities founded after the POD will probably be different as well.

Official Name(s)Sad
Commonly known as:
Territorial description:
Government:
Capital:
Head(s) of State:
Head(s) of Government:
Population:
Religions:
Languages:
Ethnic groups:
Level of Tech and Development:
Level of Freedom:
Trends:
Founding date:
History:

If you created one of those 11 countries, please repost to the best of your memory.  You can start posting new countries as well, but don't knowingly contradict the 11 already-created ones.  If we find a contradiction, I'm sure we can work it out.

If adding a new country, edit the map as a PNG to add your country in.  Also, don't wank your country to unrealistic levels.  Be realistic, but don't follow real history too closely either.

This is a reposted country, with a few minor changes made.

Official Name(s)Sad Choseon Empire 조선제국 (朝鮮帝國)
Commonly known as: Choseon
Territorial description: OTL Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hainan, eastern Siberia, northeastern China, Micronesia, Hawaii, most of Alaska, western British Columbia
Government: Bureaucratic monarchy
Capital: Hanseon (OTL Seoul)
Head(s) of State: Yi Gim-jong
Head(s) of Government: Kim Ma-sil (First Minister of State), Wo Sang-ho (First Minister of Force), Kim Jong-sen (First Minister of Harmony)
Population: 430 million
Religions: Neo-Confucianism (state religion) most others tolerated if they do not have a hierarchy outside the Empire. Hence Catholics who follow the Pope and Buddhists who follow the Dalai Lama face major restrictions, including the possibility of death if they seek converts. However there are state-approved Buddhist and Christian churches that are tolerated.
Languages: Choseon language [Korean] (state language, 40% first language, 85% know it well enough to use),  Mandarin 30%, Japanese 15%, other 15%, Use of Choseongul (Hangul) script in publishing is generally mandatory for all languages, save ancient texts printed in their original script for historical or cultural purposes. Even those generally tend to be interlinear dual script, such as the authorized Choseon version of the Quran (꾸란) with the Arabic text given in both the original Arabic script and the Choseongul script. No prohibitions on the use of other languages, just other scripts.
Ethnic groups: Korean 25%, Han Chinese 40%, Japanese 20%, other 15%
Level of Tech and Development: Medium-high.  New technology of a non-military nature is often delayed in adoption until an official standard is promulgated by the Ministry of State
Level of Freedom: Economic freedom is medium-high. Political freedom is medium as anyone can hope to enter the bureaucracy if they study the Neo-Confucian texts. Religious freedom is medium-low. Censorship is present, but criticism of the government is permitted, so long as it is couched in the form of officials not living up to Neo-Confucian ideals, so allegations of bribery or other corruption are easily aired.
Trends: Population is stable and even rising slightly which is unusual among developed countries as the Ministry of Harmony provides considerable assistance to child-raisers.
Founding date: 1392 as Choseon Kingdom 조선왕조 (朝鮮王朝), proclaimed an empire in 1618 after the conquest of Japan (not including Hokkaido which came later).
History: Founded by Taejo Yi Seong-gye following the aftermath of the overthrow of the Goryeo Dynasty. Unlike in our timeline, the Japanese and Manchu invasions of the 16th century caused the country to follow an expansionist policy instead of an isolationist policy. The current borders have been essentially stable since the mid 19th-century. Has been engaged in a religious cold war Free Republic of Tuah for centuries that has occasionally turned hot over the latter's embrace of Catholicism, largely because of ethnic Chinese Catholic missionaries that sneak in from there.
Government System: Three large ministries dominate the bureaucracy ever since a reform in 1871 consolidated the existing ministries as subministries of these three. While not always the case, it is usual for one to be headed by an ethnic Korean, one by an ethnic Han, and one by an ethnic Japanese. The Ministry of State handles the bureaucratic examinations, foreign policy, taxation, religion, and communications. The Ministry of Force handles the military and general law enforcement. The Ministry of Harmony handles public works projects, education, health care, and welfare benefits.
Major subdivsions:
Yi Kingdom (Korea)
Nippon Kingdom (Japan, Sakhalin Island, Kuriles, Kamchatka Peninsula)
Jurchen Kingdom (Manchuria and the bit of Russia south of the Amur River)
Shun Kingdom (northeast China)
Ming Kingdom (Taiwan and Hainan)
Hawaii Kingdom (Hawaii)
New Choseon (southern Alaska and western British Columbia)
Northern Territory (eastern Russia and northern Alaska)
Southern Territory (Micronesia)

Yi Kingdom is ruled by the same Yi Dynasty as the Emperor, but often an adult heir is given the ceremonial and religious duties thereof to lighten the load for the Emperor, however Yi Gim-jong is only 49 and his heir Yi Jong-san is but 21.  The other five Kings have only ceremonial and religious duties and no real power, unlike the Emperor.  There has been talk of elevating New Choseon to the status of a kingdom, but the lack of a suitable dynasty has kept that from happening. The Northern and Southern Territories are too sparsely populated to be considered for elevation into kingdoms.

Repost.  A few minor changes, mostly because I couldn't remember all of the old details:

Official Name(s)Sad Islamic Republic of Hishamia
Commonly known as: Hishamia
Territorial description: OTL Cuba and southern Bahamas
Government: Constitutional Republic
Capital: Samak al-Arawak, on the Southern Coast
Head(s) of State: President Muhammad al-Raiki
Head(s) of Government: President Muhammad al-Raiki
Population: 21,120,000
Religions: Islam is the official state religion and is practiced officially by 91% of the population.  Christianity and Judaism are allowed, but polytheism is strongly discouraged. Around 25% of the Muslims are essentially non-practicing.
Languages: Moorish and Arabic are the official languages.  Moorish is spoken by 95% of the population.  Some native Castillian, English, and native language speakers exist, and aronud two thirds can carry a basic conversation in Arabic.
Ethnic groups: 54% White (49% Moorish, 7% North African, 5% Other), 45% Sub-Saharan African, 1% Other, counting biracial people as half a person in each category.
Level of Tech and Development: High but not super-high, similar to OTL Ukraine
Level of Freedom: Pretty high, although blaspheming Islam is not tolerated.  Outside of religious matters, freedom of speech and the press is universal.
Trends: Hishamia has improved over the last 25 years after signing a free trade agreement with several nearby countries.  The standards of living has risen close to that of the first tier of countries.  Population is rising as birth rates are around 2.6 children per couple, although the birth rate has fallen over the last generation.
Founding date: 1824
History: Hishamia is named for its proximity to the Sea of Hisham, the name for the northwestern part of the OTL Caribbean Sea, named for Hisham, the sultan of Al-Andalus at the beginning of the Age of Discovery.  Moorish settlers first settled on Hishamia in the mid-1500s, and the colony really took off in the late 1600s, being dotted by sugar plantations run by African slave labor.  Independence sentiments took off by the early 1800s, and al-Andalus decided to let it go peacefully in 1824, as it had its own troubles in Europe at the time and couldn't afford to send troops to keep it in line.
Hishamia did not abolish slavery until 1893, a historical embarassment for the island.  Hishamia practiced isolationism for the first half of the 20th century, and the islands stayed poor, except for a rich elite.  Thanks to intervention by its neighbors and the establishment of a robust social welfare system, conditions have improved in Hishamia.  Forcing everyone to convert to Islam in 1902 had its problems at first, but by the 1960s, the solidarity had helped break down class and racial barriers.
Today, Hishamia is part of a free trade agreement with several of its neighbors and is also strongly allied with most Islamic countries.  Christianity and Judaism were legalized in 1978.  It is probably never going to be in the first tier of countries, but the standard of living is decently high for all segments of population.

Bill, remember since those cities were founded after the POD, they shouldn't have the same names, since the exact circumstances that led to their founding and naming would have been different.

Well maybe Birmingham, since that's also an English city, but even if cities were founded at the sites of Little Rock and New Orleans, they ought to have different names in this world.

I will give you New Orleans, but Little Rock was named for a rock on the Arkansas river.  I think that it would still have that name.  I will change New orleans

My other repost:

Official Name(s)Sad Kingdom of Norway
Commonly known as: Norway
Territorial description: Most of OTL Norway and Svalbard
Government: Parliamentary democracy with a completely ceremonial monarch
Capital: Oslo
Head(s) of State: Queen Sophia III
Head(s) of Government: Prime Minister Olaf Eriksøn
Population: 4,750,000
Religions: 62% Hagenist, 5% Catholic, 2% Other, 31% non-religious, and probably higher
Languages: Norwegian is the official language and is understood by 99% of the population.  4% speak Swedish as their first language and 3% Sami
Ethnic groups: 97% White European (almost entirely Norwegian with about 1% Sami)
Level of Tech and Development: Very high
Level of Freedom: Very high
Trends: The population is falling due to low birthrates, but the standard of living remains high.
Founding date: The Kindgom was founded in 872. The current borders were set in 1869.
History: The Kingdom of Norway was united in 872, and around the turn of the millenium, the Vikings were raiding and settling all over Europe. Norway was united with Denmark in 1395, and for a while Denmark dominated the union. Norway had colonies in Iceland and Greenland, but gave up Iceland to its new ally Scotland in 14__, and the Greenland settlements died out by 1450. Denmark-Norway founded colonies in the (OTL Caribbean) in the late 1500s, and also settled (OTL Newfoundland) as the colony of New Vinland, named after the Viking settlement hundreds of years prior.

In 1714 a Norwegian monk Ulrich Hagen changed the world forever by advocating a breakaway from the Catholic Church and complete abolishment of the hierarchy above the priest level. While the Norwegian (by this point, Norway was the dominant member of the Union) King Harald VI was not interested in the religious angle either way, he was eager to sever payments to Rome. Hagenism caught on in Scotland and parts of the Holy Roman Empire as well, and the Hagenist and Catholic countries fought a war in the 1740s, in which the Hagenists won.  Norway's colonial empire spread to all continents, leading to the saying "six continents, one Norway." Catholicism was illegal in Norway as of 1720, but all Catholics were allowed to be deported to a Norwegian colony in Southern Africa.

Norway remained the world's greatest power into the 1820s, when Norway sat out of the Last Crusade, a futile attempt by some overtly Catholic kings to try one last time to drive Muslims out of the Iberian peninsula. Norway could not escape the Bloody Sixties, though, as Europe erupted into several wars in the 1860s.  First, Norway provided support in the War of Aragonese Succession, which ended in defeat in 1862, severely weakening its military. Denmark revolted and won independence in 1864, and Norway was on the losing side of the great Baltic-Atlantic War, lasting from 1865 to 1869.  Norway was decimated in this war and lost its colonial possessions. The colonies with large European populations that could handle being independent were granted it, and the sparsely populated territories were taken over by other European powers.  Norway fell into apism and expelled King Casper IV, but by the 1890s, supported by non-apist Western powers Norway was able to overthrow apism.  Norwegians invited the aging Casper back, but only in a purely ceremonial role.
Today, Norway is a liberal high developed nation with high income equality and a vast social safety net. It has not participated in any wars since the Baltic-Atlantic War.  Its space program is one of the largest in the world, and it participated in the first lunar landing of 1982.

One final rule on the maps:  Delete the rivers inside your country once you add it to the map.  They're really just there to help your borders.  Make sure the borders are black, and if you want to add subnational borders, make them in grey.
Also, if your country has small island territories, draw a box in the color of your country around them so they're noticed, like in Hishamia.

Here's, I think, what I had.

Official Name(s)Sad Rheinischer Volksbund (Rhenian People's League)
Commonly known as: Rheinland/Rhenia
Territorial description: the Rhine basin, more or less
Government: large-parliament federal republic
Capital: Mainz
Head(s) of State: First Citisen* Bernd Göbel
Head(s) of Government: Prime Minister Clara Leuzinger
Population: 54 000 000
Religions: Pretty much eradicated by apist rule; the 10% or so that are religious nowadays (roughly one-half Christian and one-third Jewish) are almost entirely immigrants.
Languages/Ethnic Groups: German
Level of Tech and Development: Probably the one area in which apism did some good; among the two or three highest in the world.
Level of Freedom: high; Rhenians are pretty paranoid about anyone infringing on their freedoms.
Trends: Population is stable and even rising slightly which is unusual among developed countries as the Ministry of Harmony provides considerable assistance to child-raisers.
Founding date: 1867
History: The RVB was forged in the continent-engulfing chaos known, somewhat inaccurately, as the "Bloody Sixties"; the radically communitarian ideals that would later evolve into the philosophy of apism were a sort of come-together reaction to the marauding armies and anarchy that afflicted the area.
Apism continued its reign of terror for well over a century, but eventually could not continue to suppress the individualist ideas seeping in from outside, which resulted in a civil war, 1996-2001, which established a, to put it mildly, more liberal government.

* "Bürgermeister", which usually means "mayor" but literally means "master citisen", is the official title.

Official Name(s)Sad Inuit Nunangat ("The People's Homeland")
Commonly known as: Nunangat
Territorial description: OTL Greenland, Newfoundland & Labrador (minus Avalon penninsula), Nunavut, Northern Quebec, and northern NW Territories and Yukon
Government: Loose federation of tribes, federal elected council that operates by consensus, government based on Inuit traditions, traditional Angakkuq ("shaman") is appointed by the council and serves for life as head of state, with no formal power but large symbolic authority
Capital: Nunajnguk (OTL Nain, Labrador)
Head of State: Angakkuq Iqniq Kuvageegai
Head(s) of Government: Power is highly decentralized, no person holds de facto control
Population: 335-345,000 (some rural areas are hard to count)
Religions: Traditional Inuit beliefs 80%, Hagenist Christianity 20% (most Christians mix some traditional beliefs into their practices). Non-religion statistics not collected but is rising among younger people, estimated 10-15% of the population
Languages: Various Inuit dialects, Norwegian spoken by some
Ethnic groups: 94% Inuit, 4% White/European (mostly Scottish), 2% non-Inuit Native American
Level of Tech and Development: Mixed, many people live in traditional rural communities without electricity or modern amenities, but increasing numbers live in highly modern towns along the coasts
Level of Freedom: Few laws, mostly based on tradition and culture. No laws regulating free speech but criticism of the government and elders is traditionally very taboo. Representatives elected democratically, but because of traditional authority of leaders elections are frequently uncontested and politicians serve for life
Trends: Population and economy has been rapidly growing since the 1980s, increasing urbanization
Founding date: 1865 (Declaration of Nunajnguk, independence from Norway claimed) , 1869 (Norway renounces claims as part of end of the Baltic-Atlantic War)
History: Nunangat is the state of the Inuit people. Beginning in the 1600s, the Inuit lands were colonized by the Kingdom of Norway, and Norwegian war and disease decimated the Inuit people and forcibly converted them to Christianity. By the early 1800s, the Inuit were beginning to recover and a there was a renaissance of Inuit culture and nationalism across the colonies. A couple small rebellions were attempted and crushed, but in 1865 the Inuit saw their chance with the start of the Baltic-Atlantic war. Inuit leaders met in Nunajnguk and issued the Declaration of Nunajnguk declaring the Inuit lands united and independent from Norwegian rule. The Inuit rebels were assisted by Norway's enemies, and with the country at war Norway could not afford to send troops to the far north to put down the rebellion. At the end of the war Norway recognized Nunangat's independence.

After the war, Nunangat's leaders worked to restore traditional Inuit culture, by replacing Norwegian with native languages and Christianity with traditional beliefs, which was mostly successful. The nation remained rural and isolated from the rest of the world for most of it's history. Things changed in the 1980s, when the country experienced a massive economic boom due to exploration of natural resources and air travel making rural areas more connected. This lead to rapid change, as people moved to urban areas for the first time and the country's population more than doubled from 1980-2010. Some of the natural resources have run low recently, but economic growth has continued with the development of wind and hydroelectric power as a major industry. Because of its vast resources compared to small population, Nunangat now has one of the highest GDP per capita in the world, and urban areas have access to all modern amenities. The country has been a pioneer in the development of alternative energy and satellite internet.

The economic boom has also brought problems to Nunangat. The natural resources boom and government members who traditionally are in office for life has led to massive corruption. The population boom has created a large class of younger people who are tired of the traditional system of government which keeps them out of power in favor of elders. There have been a number of protests (the first ever in the country) by disaffected youth in recent years. In 2009, a large corruption scandal involving many members of the government including Angakkuq Aituserk Kappiataitok led to youth riots across the country, which was a massive shock to older Nunangat residents who had never even imagined such a thing. The riots led to Kappiataitok's resignation, making him the first ever Angakkuq to resign instead of dying in office. Since then there has been some change to governing traditions, but the nation's government system makes any change extremely slow if not almost impossible and many older residents are fiercely resisting any weakening of Inuit traditions.

Looks like this thread isn't going to make it.  If you are interested in this type of game, we aren't very far into a game like it over at AH: http://www.alternatehistory.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=269239
We're only 11 pages in, so it wouldn't take long for you to familiarize yourself with the world if you're interested.
